What did you get done? Spring Break-St Patricks edition-03/18
I realize this isn't Spring Break for everyone so I threw the St. patrick's version up there too. This was Spring Break for my daughter and we spent it in Colorado.
A week ago we flew in to Denver for a Junior Olympic Qualifier. There were 128 teams in my daughters division, and they were seeded 11th. They played well all weekend and made the Gold division in bracket play. Unfortunately they drew the 6th side in the 1st round and got put out. They ended up in 9th place overall. Certainly a respectable finish, but only the top 2 teams qualify to play at the USAV Junior Olympics in July. The rest of the week was spent in Dillon enjoying the mountains of Colorado. We went on a snowmobile tour from Breckenridge that took us to 11000 ft and a view of the Continental Divide. Our girls took snowboarding lessons then spent the day falling down the slopes of Copper Mountain. Later we went tubing which was a blast. We took a Snow Kat tour from Keystone that took us up to 13000ft. The view from the summit was awesome. We were literally in the clouds. The finally was a horse drawn sleigh ride through the woods that ending with dinner in a wood cabin. Unfortunately I had to come back to work on Friday. What did you get done?

Here's a pic from our Snow Kat tour. Beyond the yellow sign is where we turned around at the summit.

Here's a view from the summit at 13k ft. We were at the same level as the clouds.

Here's a pic of the trail we just came up on. We took the ski lift to the top of Keystone, then went ""up" from there.

Went to the World of Outlaws race at Houston Raceway Park, and got my parents truck barried in the grass, so today I got to clean the truck.

bought a 86 chevy shortbox for parts. Cab/fenders will be going on the 4x4 project. It has power windows and locks, which is a bonus.

Re: What did you get done? Spring Break-St Patricks edition-03/18
Went to see "300" today with a friend of mine, It was pretty good.
Started packing for our "Vegas vacation" tomorrow... Finally got the rocker guards cleaned off my truck, a little 3m woodgrain adhesive remover did the trick real nice, along with a plastic putty scraper. Thinking about tearing out my interior and putting in some sound dampener throughout the whole cab, maybe I am just itchy to get something done on my truck, looks like it will be June before my brother makes his way down here to Florida and brings my 91 burb front end.

Looks like the frame is broke or bent on that truck pictured vern350. The cab and bed tilt downwards towards each other. Same way my uncle's gmc was he had a cracked frame right in the middle of the cab or so.

I did the unthinkable, unbearable, and unpleasant.... Started to make a list of the many things I've accomplished on my truck to put it up for sale.

Re: What did you get done? Spring Break-St Patricks edition-03/18
Got all my BB stuff back from the machine shop friday. I spent a couple hours saturday ringing the pistons and stuffing em in. I went back to the shop today and finished the engine. I was missing a few bolts of course so I had to do some running all over town to get them. I should have all the brackets and junk here by the 20th so I'm going to probably stuff it in friday night.
Did some yard work, only got the front yard done my nose was going to kill me. This year is going to be for me with all the dust in the air. Got a couple shots of the truck havent posted it with the hood painted.

Re: What did you get done? Spring Break-St Patricks edition-03/18
Looks like a fun trip and thats sad for the red truck, even witha bent frame.
For me I spend the weekend cleaning around the garage. Got the metal man to come by and pic up all my scraps. Also moved the chevelle out of her hole to put wood under the car to stop it from sinking and put pastic under the car to stop moster from coming from underneath. As for the brown truck she runs great still need to stop a leak in the tranny and take to the shop to hav ethe front end done along with a once over to check for safty. Monday will be put the bronco back together day.

Re: What did you get done? Spring Break-St Patricks edition-03/18
I'm in between a real rock and a hard place on the deal. It really all boils down to centimental value and my lack of $$$. My dad is thinking of selling the car that I would otherwise inherit when he passes. I can't afford to buy the car unless I lose the truck. I either lose my first car that I've sacrificed hell and high water for, or I lose the one car that will keep a part of him with me when he's no longer here. One of the hardest decisions I've been faced with in a while This... Or this...

Re: What did you get done? Spring Break-St Patricks edition-03/18
i went to church, i finished getting paid for the 90, and delivered it to its new owner, then i rode around with him in it, as he was driving the crap out of it, i called the PO of my 89, and told him to file for that lost title please (long story, i hate notary publics now), i put the clear thingy over the instrument cluster, and the instrument cluster bezel back on the truck,

Re: What did you get done? Spring Break-St Patricks edition-03/18
try and sell the truck to someone you know, then maybe one day you can buy it back and have them both... think about it, there are plenty of trucks out there, now you dont see many impala's ridin around especialy your dads, get your dads and then when you can find another truck or buy your old one back or maybe start a ground up project little by little... i would take dads car =/

Re: What did you get done? Spring Break-St Patricks edition-03/18
I understand, Steve. I have my dad's '37 coupe that I inherited almost 3 years ago when he died. It really means a lot to me. I have considered selling my truck, even, to allow more time and money for his coupe. I just can't do it, though.
I spent part of today with my wife and her terminally ill father showing his '67 RS Camaro at a local car show. He's so sick he couldn't even walk around and look at the other cars. It made him happy to show the car, though. I spent the rest of the weekend just visiting the FIL and working on a welding project. I am putting a cart together for my little mig welder out of 1" square tubing. I suck at welding, but I'm getting really good at grinding! This is good practice on something that won't kill anyone if a weld breaks. Slonaker Last edited by Slonaker; 03-18-2007 at 10:24 PM. Reason: badd speeling |

Re: What did you get done? Spring Break-St Patricks edition-03/18
I worked late Thurs & Fri night & had to go back in for half the day on Sat & we went to see the movie '300'.
Today, I worked on some new shock brackets for the rear of my 68. Let's just say it's a good thing I don't do this for a living 'cause I would have to work 12hrs to do 8hrs worth of work . I also found out it's better to have the actual shocks you plan to use when fabricating relocation brackets. It appears that I should not have used the Monroes from ART because the Bilsteins that are being installed in the front have 1.5" of more travel. I guess I'll redo the fronts.....
