Power steering box question

How can one tell which port the high pressure hose hooks to from the power steering pump? I am assuming it is the one on the top of the pic below.

Also, I purchased both new hoses, one has the fitting on both ends (high pressure hose, supply I 'spose), the other for all intensive purposes is just a hose that is secured with hose clamps (low pressure hose, return). I assume there is a fitting I need for the low pressure hose, but I do not have one and don't remember if I pulled one off six years ago when I tore the truck apart. Can someone tell me what I need exactly so I can go about getting it?

Re: Power steering box question

being you have the hoses, the hose ends on the hoses are different sizes at the box.

But are the two ports on the box the same size...I think they are (cannot verify unless I trek back out to the garage)? I was just wondering which one on the box was the supply port.

Yep, pressure side is the port closest to the frame.

Did your new hose not come with the steel part?

The supply hose had both ends crimped on and has everything I need to hook the pump up to the box, the return was just a hose with clamps on it. I did find the tube for the return in my stash of parts, so everthing is now accounted for.

Thanks again for the help.

A little while yet...but not far. I may end up driving it by mid summer...we'll see.

Re: Power steering box question

Cool, mine might hit the road again about the same time... Need something powerful enough to haul 7 - 8 quads this summer, don't think the 4.3L in the K1500 is up for it
