i have a 1983 GMC sierra 1500 swb i dunno if i should slam the truck or give it the rake look cause this is my first truck and even tho it looks like a piece of crap right now i know it has some real potential so i need some of yalls guys opinions it would be greatly appretiated

everyone and their mom slams their truck, be a man (or at least a redneck) and rake yers - hey, if my Lincoln can get lowered 1" in the front, lifted 1" in the rear, sports a huge hood scoop (fully functional) and rolls on offroad truck tires, and still pull it off pretty well, I don't see no reason why ya can't drop the front of yer truck with like 2-3" and slap some 245/60-15 front tires and some 295/50-15s in the rear and go show the ricers who actually owns the street, lol

Mine came stock with the ass end pretty high in the air, but when I filled the bed up with band equipment it sat pretty level...then again I used mine as a truck, not a car.

In my opinion I think it depends on the wheel/tire combination. Bigs and skinnies I'd say slight rake. Slammed if your using the same diameter wheel on all four corners.

i like both....just don't care for perfectly level.or back slightly lower.being kinda of an old school guy.i like rake..but no sixties jacked up rake.the older guys on here will know what i'm talking about.....remember,when they used to raise the rear as high as you could?

I like a slight rake...but with the front lowered rather than the rear jacked up.
mine has a slight rake...but its lowered all around, + I prefer the bignlittle look, more of a drag race stance.

Classic87 What set-up do you have on your truck? 3"/4" Drop? Are your Tire sizes the same? I like the way it sits.

Thanks for the comments... the overall drop is approx. 5" front and 6"-7" in the rear. I've listed the spec's below.

Wheels are American TTII's:
Front: 17x8.5 with 255x60's
Rear: 17x9.5 with 275x60's

Suspension:
Front: 3" Belltech spindle and 1 coil removed
Rear: Springs have been dearched 4", 2" shackles installed, and also I removed the overload leaf-spring (the bottom heavyduty leaf)

It actually depends more on the springs and shocks than so much the stance...

You do realize he's probably running a big block in that thing (so not really a ricer), besides it's anything but street-legal. that's exactly what i was thinking.pcm's truck sits very nice.guess i need a rule clarification between slammed and raked.i always thought slammed meant air baged and dropped on the rails type look,and raked was like mine and that blue one that slammed 87 posted.

I agree. I consider lowered vehicles "lowered", rake or not. Bagged/bodydropped etc. i call slammed. Thats just me tho. My black & grey '87 is just lowered (4-6ish), my blue '87 is slammed as you can go without cutting into the body.
