Reasonably priced 1967?

Hey guys,

I'm new to this, but I have always wanted to own a 1967 or 1972 C10. Well, I'm finally taking the plunge and have found what I think might be an awesome find. The owner says it's 1967 shortbed that was restored about 10 years ago. He says it has some surface rust, but not much and really just needs a paint job. It has the original 6 cyl engine and runs fine with no issues. Below are some the pictures the owner sent me. I'm going on Sunday to look at it in person. He wants $6k for it. What do you guys think? Wow! I'd say that looks pretty darn nice to me. Owner sounds like and from the looks of the pic's and back ground as some one to really go for high quality. Check it out good but from the looks of it in the pic's not in person I would say seems like a good deal. RJ22

it deffinitly sounds like a deal worth going for and its one hell of a good looking truck but do look at it first and make sure you look everywhere even under it and take it for a drive if you can just to make sure before you do anything and goodluck with it and i hope you get it

Hi,I`m the sceptic.I can`t do links right now on my computer and I just see a red "x".So,I haven`t seen it,but...Surface rust on a restored truck?Uh uh.What is this guy calling surface rust?Surface rust comes from aged paint that has become thin and lost it`s seal.Or,chipped/scratched paint.Many call the rust-out that shows bubbles on the surface(tip of the iceberg),surface rust.I`m just saying beware.

I would have to look at that truck , just in the pic's you can't make the call , here is what to do
look at
#1 rocker's
#2 cab support's
#3 cab support's
#4 cab support's
#5 floor pan's
#6 look at the inside corner's of the door and the door bottoms
#7 frame
#8 around the inside of the stepside fender's (TAKE A FLASHLIGHT)
#9look at the bottom corner's of the front fender's and door's
#10 look at the floor pan's from under the hood down behind the inner fender's


I hope it's a super great truck for you and if the body is good it's worth what he is asking but I just see some thing's in the pic's that would make me want to inspect it very good ,
on the flip side even if it has some rust you may be able to use what you find as a bargaining tool $6K may turn into $3K ?

I saw the pics and there seems to be no surface rust on the paint. I would guess he meant underneath or in the floorboards.

It's a 67' alright....it's a stepper, it's a shorty, It's a small window, it's a nice truck....IT'S a DEAL!!! If you don't want it I do!!!

First off to the board.

I agree with the other guys, the next time you go there take a piece of cardboard and a GOOD flashlight and spend some time underneath the truck. Some people spend a lot of time making the top look nice but not a lot of time on the bottom. If there are any rust issues that is where they will be easiest to spot.

It's very hard to tell from the pictures but I would give the truck a value of 4-5 thousand. I value my white truck at $5500 and the green one at $4500, just for comparison. White one is a shortbed and the green one is a long bed. Both are pretty rust free.

The next time you talk to the guy ask him if he want's to sell the '58 Chevy and let me know. Thanks.

A little more background on the truck. It is a 1967 stepside, shortbed. Supposedly it's all original. How do I check that?

The truck was restored about 10 years ago. If you look along the tailgate, there is some surface rust at the top where it has worn over time. The owner claims that is about the extent of the rust. Also the restoration was not an off the frame one, but the frame is supposed to be excellent shape with little to no rust. I'm taking a magnet and a flashlight and plan to look the entire truck over VERY well on Sunday. However, it sounds to me like you all are saying the truck is reasonably priced if it is in good shape. I'll let you all know how it turns out

I'd say the surface rust on the top of the tailgate is just normal wear.
If you use the magnet be sure and wrap a shop rag around it so you don't take a chance on scratching the paint. (even if it does need a paint job)

If you're not familiar with these trucks it can be hard to tell if it is all original or not....
