what do you guys do for security on your Blazers?

I'm guessing an alarm might be worthless...they pretty much are these days.

Re: what do you guys do for security on your Blazers?

Softtops and security are not good friends...

Park where you can see it and pack heat.

Biggest thing is to not have anything that is easy to steal. Don't leave loose items accessible and make sure the vehicle is essentailly empty. If you need to store items due to work or such, look into lockable storage - Tuffy consoles, bolted in ammo boxes with locks, etc.

Re: what do you guys do for security on your Blazers?

Blazers / Jimmys are just too easy to get into, the best thing you can do is
get good insurance and just drive / enjoy it. No matter what you do if they
want into it / wanna take it bad enough they are going to. Mine are kept in
the garage, I have 24hour security, a dog, and a .45. That helps here, but
out in the real world nuthing will stop them if they know what there doing.

Move to Canada. I don't even lock my truck half the time. Besides, it's hard to steal a nice truck that always gets attention. Plus it's not a very inconspicuous vehicle to steal, if anyone saw my truck being driven by anyone other than me, I'd definately get a phone call.

I leave the doors unlocked on mine in hopes that someone will steal mine. I have it over insured and the money would help me get the one I want. I will feel differently when I actually have one finished and nice though.

I was thinking of mounting a master kill switch under the dash with a removeable knob. Not sure if I should put it on the ground side or positive

I always figured I put a switch on the coil power wire,
no sparky no start.

I just took the engine out of mine for a year and a half and never had any trouble with anyone trying to take it.

Yeah I went but took my uncle's 05 wrangler instead. I'll pm you why I didn't take the blazer cuz i'm too embarrassed to mention to everyone why I didn't for fear of being the laughing stock of the entire web community.

That won't stop me from laughing! I know the full story. I guess I won't be laughing for long when you bring it over to my place and I have to help work on it.

Well, after a thwarting a theft attempt, we now park my wife's Explorer across the driveway so it can't be rolled out of the driveway and started down the hill out of earshot.

I just mounted a toggle switch on the underside of the dash. That runs the electric fuel pump. NO GAS ---- NO GO!!!

Park it as conspicuously as possible- right up front where everyone can see it. Also, maybe not for the 4wd guys, but I let all the air out of the supension and lock the switch box. Can't even tow it away then...

It may not be easy, but it could be towed, especially if they aren't worried about minor damage to a bumper or other easily replaced parts. It's amazing what a creative mind can achieve with a decent wrecker and good equipment.

Leave an empty pistol holster on the seat, so that it can be seen thru the window...

What about an Auto-Lock? or a cut off switch to the electrical that you can mount under the dash somewhere that has a key? I know LMC sells them.
