Who Makes a good offroad steering box and pump for our 67-72 4X4's?
I want a brand new aftermarket setup. Does anyone know who manufactures a combo. I thought there used to be a company called AR.

The company is called AGR. I would'nt recommend them though. Their quality seems to be lacking and you'll be lucky if the parts you get work without leaking the first time. I went through west texas offraod for my ram setup and then ported my pump. That made a HUGE difference!!

I'm not too familiar with steering issues. Does crossover iliminate the power steering pump. I'm sorry to hear AGR is junk. The product looks nice.
Thanks for the info,

You could looking into PSC also.
http://www.pscpowersteer.com/ I'm currently running their stuff on my 71 off road blazer. I purchased a kit from them, everything included to install the ram assist came with it. Last edited by vtblazer; 03-27-2007 at 06:28 AM. |

Re: Who Makes a good offroad steering box and pump for our 67-72 4X4's?
crossover steering helps eliminate bump steer and relieves the draglink angle on lifted chevy trucks. It changes the 4WD (back and forth) PS box over to a 2WD (side to side). You add a modified tie rod (which I have for you) to the flattop knuckel installed on the pass side (which I have but needs machined) and voila...your set. There's a little more to it than that but you get the picture. Search for crossover steering on google and you will get more info...

I wouldn't mind doing that to my Blazer but it only has a 2" lift.

I carry AGR and have not had any problems with there stuff that I have sold. I know there used to be issues in the past which doesn't help current opinions. I won't say they are the best, but only place i have found making new 4wd boxes. They have new pumps as well and also ram assist setups.

Re: Who Makes a good offroad steering box and pump for our 67-72 4X4's?
What are you using this truck for?
Hardcore wheeling? Camping & Dirt roads? I have wheeled for many many years with a Napa steering box and stock pump. If you don't plan on making your truck a hardcore wheeler with HUGE tires then I would save your $$ and keep your steering stock. Starting a crossover project will cost $$$$$$$$ to do it right. To learn more about crossover/highsteer and the $$ involved check thease websites: www.wfoconcepts.com www.pscmotorsports.com www.offroaddesign.com Some homebrew ways of doing it too that cost alot less...
