oops. my foot slipped

My foot slipped off the clutch last night but lucky I caught my self with the gas pedel. funny thing after the smoke cleared my 16 year old son had the funnest look on his face. I tryed to convince him it was a accedent. I guess he might have belived it if it had not happened again when I went in to second gear also. so I guess I am a bad example or some thing like that.

I know.I have to think about that when I`m driving my son (15) around.I don`t do burn outs.But,when I catch second I try to make it look like I couldn`t help it.I won`t be putting him in anything that he doesn`t have to try real hard to lay rubber,then let him work his way up.

My dad's ElCamino has a TH350 with a very hard shift kit. It barks second about every time you drive it, so when he takes my 4yr old for a ride, he tells him they ran over a puppy dog's tail.

Got to watch that with kids in the trucks.My brother inlaw did a burnout and he got stoped by the cops thay just herd the burnout. So thay figure it was him with his hopped up truck and baggerd my 15 year old son that was with him into writeing a statment out that his uncle did the burn out. Well he got the ticket and was pi$$ed. I always taught my son to respect a officer of the law and telling the truth was best. I kind of thought it was funny. But really didn't think it was right that thay put my son through that.

I always tell my kids do what i say now what i do. It will come back to haunt you like my youngest son coming in and saying dad you know your truck will only run and 105 mph but your car dose much more LOL!!

Just remember your slip when your son brings the truck home needing tires if you ever let him take it by himself. It will probably be the first thing he shows his buddies. RJ22

When i was younger i had a mustang gt i had built, it had about 300 horse and i drove like an idiot. I told the stories when my son was YOUNG around 4-6 years old, he still remembers the stories and has me terrified of giving him anything with power! he is 16 now and tells his buddies the stories like he was there.

Both my boys know what a 2nd gear scratch is, I know I will regret that someday. My No. 2 son (8yrs) and I took our new Pilot out to the snow-covered ski resort parking lot to test the Vehicle Stability Assist. It really works well, but I also had to test it with it turned it off and we drifted across the parking lot a half a dozen times, both of us laughing our butts off. Getting sideways in a brand new SUV, I guess I won't get so upset when he jumps in a puddle with his brand new tennis shoes on.

These stories remind me of what my 17 year old said when he was @7 after a "session" in my old 65 malibu. It had line lock & he asked me what that was. I said its the "burn out button" & Im pretty sure he believed it because we never took it out without boiling the Mickeys. My wife took him for a ride in it once & she came home laughing about some "magic burn out button" that my son kept talking about. I told him that was OUR little secret...

Funny how a topic such as this brings back some old times long forgotten. My bud's dad used to spin out on take off and he'd say "oops, loose gravel" and grin. Well, being the big eyed younguns we were we observed it all and we gave it hell too. It was an ol 64 or 65 chevy truck, 283 and 3 on the tree. We stayed off the main streets but drove that thing all over town. On one take off it threw his dog out the back of the truck. Didn't hurt him. LOL We stopped, he jumped right back in and we were gone again. I tell ya that was one tuff truck.

Stories like these are exactly why I am debating keeping the little 4cyl '79 Luv for my boys (2&6 yr.old) to got to school in, but by the time they get old enough to drive it will probably have a LS1 in it. My first truck was a '72 swb and I never got a burn out ticket in, not to say I did'nt do any.

I grew up riding in my dads 1972 Nova SS, he used to throw me back in the seats everyday on the way home from school (I was about 6 or 7) I am 30 now and still remember it like it was yesterday. So I got a little nervous yeasterday my 4 year old daughter was riding in the truck yesterday and she was hollerin "FASTER DADDY FASTER!! MAKE THEM WHEELS SMOKE" I told my wife it must run in the family, she said my daughter can't have anything over a 4 cylinder for her when she drives.
