anyone know how to remove a smog pump on a 2.8L ?

hi, I'm trying to get the exhaust manifold off of my 87 Jimmy. but I can not do it cause there is a smog pump or something covering the last 2 bolts on the passenger side. I think the engine is a 2.8 V6. The haynes manual of does not show or mention how to do this as usual. and I can not for the life of me figure out what is holding this sucker on. I've already removed the alternator and I can only see one bolt on the smog pump but that is blocked by the pulley if I remember correctly. any ideas?
thanks
