Donor Van??

My Pop has a 1988 Chevy high-top van he will give me just to get it gone. About 10K miles ago he had a new 305 installed and about 1K miles ago he had the turbo 350 rebuilt by AAmco. Yea I know a 350 is better than a 305 and all that but hey if it's free. Also anyone know if the tranny's are the same as the one in my 71? I was going to do the 2004R thing, but again...free. Anything else on this van that would be worth pulling off before I send it to the scrapyard?

Re: Donor Van??

Free is GOOD! I have a 305 in my truck from an '86 van and it's been a good motor. I think the trans. will swap over, but I'm not 100%

Re: Donor Van??

My dad had a 76 G10 van, and later the transmission was rebuilt and found its way into my 78 C10 so yes, it should be the same. Just look and make sure the tailshafts are the same length.

That's kinda what I'm asking. Pop's house is not that close so I can't just go measure the tailshaft and compare. Was hoping maybe someone knew if they were the same or not. Thanks for the reply!
