Emergency/parking brake cable - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Well,I got a chance to work on the old rig again. I have switched to 4 disc brakes. Now, I want to hook up the parking brake but the cable seems to be couple inches short even after I elongated it to the max. Does anybody knows how long the stock ones are? and how can I buy one(s) which is longer, I mean is there any particular year model which has longer cables or anybody has had the same problem?

http://www.inlinetube.com/ do custom cables. I was going to talk to them. What calipers are you using? I have Eldorado calipers and I'm going nearly three inchs longer than stock. I'd like to know if (and what) others have done. (I've got a Blackbird kit on a D60)

We have a local Tractor Supply store that has the right size diameter cable in stock and we make up our own cables. I think you can buy the ends but I make them from 3/8" rod cut to length with a hole drilled through the middle for our cables. It is just a matter of cutting the cable to length and installing the ends. I use a vise to squeeze the ends and then indent them with a dull chisel to make sure they stay on in lieu of a hydraulic tool.

I believe that Lowe's and other like stores carry cables, also.

I have blackbird kit for the rear too, with e-brake option. I forgot what kind of the calipers they were. I'll go and look it up. Thanks for info though.
