Re: Anybody using JetHot coated Headers??

I'll see if I can dig you up a pic in just a sec, but I have some Dynomax Jet Hot coated headers, and they are awesome! Look as good 7 years later as the day I put them on! They are the best, I would never use anything else.

Re: Anybody using JetHot coated Headers??

I have to agree, Jet Hot is TOPS. I had a set of Jet Hot coated Hooker Super Comp headers on my 69 Camaro and they were awesome. The coating does prevents the typical header rusting. In addition, the coating helps keep the engine comparment cooler and speeds up the cooling process of the headers. Actually, I could make a 9 second pass down the track and pop the hood, and within a couple of minutes I could pull a plug for reading without burning any skin. If you have the cash, I would go for the coating.

Re: Anybody using JetHot coated Headers??

Mine started rusting within one year from the inside out. From my understanding one of their main guys left JetHot and started a company called Airborne Coatings in Okla. Thats where I got my last set done and they are going on 3 yrs now with no problems.

Re: Anybody using JetHot coated Headers??

They might be OK if you don't drive in the rain or snow like we have up here. Mine were totaly rusted out in 5 yrs. I'm thinking stainless next time around.

Stainless very pricey but worth it if you drive it in weather.

Re: Anybody using JetHot coated Headers??

I've found that the regular exhaust manifold gaskets last much longer than the header gaskets.

Re: Anybody using JetHot coated Headers??

It looks like jethot & airborn charge te same 400 bucks + shipping. This is using hooker headers. Is there an alturnitive to coating headers to preserve them.

Re: Anybody using JetHot coated Headers??

The pair i have had the longest are chrome,in my mustang with a BB, but you need to clean them often to keep them from deteriorating.I was sick of replacing headers in my truck, so i went back to manifolds.

Re: Anybody using JetHot coated Headers??

I have been using manifolds for a long time and the drivers side manifold is leaking exaust really bad so I have decided to replace them. I had exaust leaks and stayed away from headers because of it. I wish I could find a block hugger type header that bolts to factory type exaust setups.

Re: Anybody using JetHot coated Headers??

Sounds like you are looking for a Sanderson style header...

Here's a pic of mine from when I was working on the A/C.
Excuse the mess.

They look about they same as when I bought them (end of 1999).

Re: Anybody using JetHot coated Headers??

I had a set of the DynoMax on a daily driver Chevelle (no salt/snow just rain occassionally). They held up good for about 8 years, then when it became just a weekend driver they started getting rust bubbles here & there.
Also had a mud truck with headers that we sent to Jet Hot for coating. That didn't last but a little over a year & it was all peeling off.
So on my Blazer this go round I'm gonna try the "do it yourself" coating. That way if it starts coming off, not out as much money & can just blast them & do it again!

Is there a product on the market that allows the do-it-yourself application?

Re: Anybody using JetHot coated Headers??

If you don't do the insides of the headers I believe u are wasting your time. They will rust from the inside out.

Another thing, if have someone do a set of headers for you no matter who it is don't send em an old set to have done. Buy new ones and sent those to them to have coated.

What ever I would have coadted would be NIB. I want the job done right and the headers to last.
