Sprayed 3 trucks yesterday...workin' on Lil' Red today

I have sprayed a truck (one) everyday this week and three yesterday and have one booked for tomorrow......so....cleaning the shop and woking on Lil' Red today. My seats are in and I need to address the console. It's from a 04' Yukon Denali. I had to shorten it up and chop the bottom, so I removed the the back of it and where the rear seat audio was for the Denali...and glassed it up. Little bondo to smoothe it out and then I am going to shoot the glassed up back in GatorHyde black. I think it will blend into the 10" sub and the black interior that way...and be easy. Front will stay biege to match the seats.

Taped up, covered in visqueen, primered, in booth and soon to be sprayed. Waiting on chemical to heat to 155 degrees.

Yes they did. When this deal came about I called Chevy's parts dept to see what they sell for if you were to order them in leather....ahhhh he comes back and says "$1800.00 each for the 10 way heated airbag version". "Thank you", I said and I hung up. I bought them both brand new from a wrecked stolen vehicle off a dealers lot....for $500 for both seats with the console.

OK back is sprayed. I'm not so sure about the two tone...but I think the black back will never be seen and disapeer into the interior???

Set the seats in the truck first to see if they would work. Seemed to be just fine. Before removing them marked the outside edge of the seat rail on the carpet with masking tape. Then set the seat on a large piece of tile setters brown Aqua Bar heavy paper and reached under the seat and marked the holes. Put the template on the edge where my masking tape was, cut out the carpet in the holes to be drilled areas. Drilled holes, made heavy steel removable plates to go under the cab on each bolt for safety and tightened them down. Used grade 8, inch and a half long ,1/2" bolts. Ran the electrics to the positive feed from the battery that is under the center console.

No seat modifications was the important part. I will start looking for a set. Thanks

Re: Sprayed 3 trucks yesterday...workin' on Lil' Red today

You guys are kind...thank you. I am currently working on the power windows. Had to call A1 Electric to get them to email me a PDF schematic for the wiring of my switches I bought from them. Windows next! I did not hook up the heated seats only the power for movement. I may look into the heated seats, I'm sure they can be wired.....but I will never drive this truck in the winter...sooo....more interested in Vintage Air than heated seats.

Re: Sprayed 3 trucks yesterday...workin' on Lil' Red today

Your truck looks great! Did you cut and polish the paint (if not I hate you ) and if so what product do you like? Also I like you poly paint booth, Looks like mine.

Here are a few pics of some of the seat mounts I have done for the newer seats. I like to weld mine in place and add a welded square nut to the mounting plate to make it a simple drop in and bolt down deal. Just please add plenty of bracing to the floor because in a wreck all the stress is now in the seat mounts since the belts are integrated!

Re: Sprayed 3 trucks yesterday...workin' on Lil' Red today

Timcos, The console that I glassed and sprayed in Gatorhyde bed liner material is only the back part that I took apart. had to cover it in something and my intention was the black would disapeer into the interior, I think it's fine. The back of this console was for the electronic 2nd row kiddie controls. Have to agree the leather is nice!

Cut and Polish...not yet...when it is all back together...soon!!!! . Everyone that sees the paint wants to know who painted it. There are some touch up areas but all and all not too bad. Truck was NOT painted in the GatorHyde booth shown. That is only for doing my truck bedliners!!!

Don't worry about my seats being bolted down safely. I have large Thick plates that would take a tremendous wreck to pull thru the cab floor....probably wouldn't want to survive a wreck that would be able to do this!

Thanks again you guys!!!

I am going to look at a 68' stepside that is un molested and original today. A customer sees my 71' and says I have something like that in my barn....a few questions later and he tells me "It's a short bed but not a bed like that its one of those ahhh.... step side and a 68'...then says "I'll probably never touch it". Tells me to come and see it. Going today!!!

Alex
