PIC'S of Blazertruck

On my journey to Florida, I stopped buy a friends house in Salt Lake for a while. I managed to acquired a few more parts and take some pics of his blazertrucks. He has built about 5 of them now and these are the latest 2.

He was board one day so he had dis 14 year old son draw and mask off the flames and then he went out and painted them. Still yet another gereration of 67-72 chevy truck lovers to come. I envited him to the Board and he kindley refused due to the fact that he dosn't own or plan on owning a computer. I thought I would share these with you all.

a blaze truck is a blzer with a truck cab grafter onto it, so its shorer than a swb(right?) and doesnt have a gap between the bed and cab, there was one in Classic Trucks a while back, someone here has it as their avatar, it was clled the Buttera Blazer if anyoen has a pic

seanh71 is right. He cuts off the back and top of a cab and welds it in. He has made a few now so all of his measurments are percise. The best part about it is that there is no seam for the bed! It makes a short short bed. I don't have the measurments of the bed but the wheel base is of course that of a blazer. I know that his oldest boy drives one and he drives one and he has sold 2 for now. The one in the garage he posted for sale at one point in front of his house but he decited to finish it and tow it to shows behind the one with flames. Right now he is curently working on another. The one that seanh71 mentioned may be one of his but I am not sure. He has over 25 trucks and blazers parted out over there. Parts in the attic, behind garage a double carport full of body panels. He has a gold mine. He is not interested in the board but he is willing to sell parts.

Sorry RainDog, I have not been around durring the process. I saw that the one he is making right now, has some of the floor board and the rockers cut out and he was welding new metal in. The cab section is already in place just needs to be finnished. He has 2 complete blazers and I believe 2 blazer frames and running gear under the carport. I am sure when he is done with this one, he will move on to another. He works full time doing finish carpentry and does this as a hobby and a second means of income. I have known him for many years and his house has been like this since he bought it 15 years ago. I wish I had more details.

Friend in Salt Lke

Glad to hear you made the trip safely. Thanks for your willingness to help me out with the hood. I just wanted to touch base with you and see if I can get your friends address or Phone #. I would love to go personally see these blazers. I also am in need of some parts and would love to see what he has in his parts yard.

Here is an updated shot of my Blazer.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks Matt

Seems like a lot of work just to have a short truck. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a blazer(removable top)

70blazer I sent you a PM
ebfabman I would think that a man with your skills would appreciate something like this. Who knows, maybe if the two of you put your heads together, making a convertible like you mentioned would be easy.

I personally don't see the need or would have use for a truck shorter than a swb truck. However my plans are to do the opposite of what this guy is doing, create a (maybe several) 2wd blazer clone from the much more plentiful and less desireable lwb pickup, right down to the removable top made from a camper shell (canopy, topper, etc)

Stay tuned........

HAHAHA!!

I like the last shot of the blazertruck behind the fence! I got this image in my head that it looked like a big bad bruiser dog behind a fence, not allowed to go outside anymore!

I guess it looked funny to me that the little fence didn't seem to be stopping much.

Yeah, Yeah, get some sleep and lay off the coffee!

I have bought many parts from this guy. If you need it I bet he has got it. If anyone wants his name and number I could hook you up. I live 5 min. From him.

Hey '71 , I had no idea that anyone else on the board would have known Daney. Good deal. My father grew up with him. I have watched him and my dad do that kind of stuff for years. I have Daney and my dad to thank for getting me into these trucks.
Happy Trucking,
Mario

would it be better if the bed moved seperatly from the cab, instead of being welded together?

Gotta love those blazers ....I like the idea of having a metal top that looks killer but ,i bought my blazer because the top came off and even though it leaks like a busted dam i still love the drop top effect...I would not think it would be too hard to make the metal top removable and that would be killer also....

Slider, as far as the bed moving seperatly, the whole truck is a blazer frame and body. It has the short wheel base.
FBlue72, I agreee that a removable top would be great. I would think that it would make a good canidate for rust and leaks though. The whole idea of his trucks is to have a short, short bed. And with no seams, they look great.
