Re: 2/4 drop on 98 chevy 1500
spindle or coil up front, hanger and shackle kit out back.. cheap and easy to do

Re: 2/4 drop on 98 chevy 1500
I agree. Depending on your budget, spindles are more money, but will keep your suspension geometry as close to stock as possible. Springs are cheap, but oftentimes will change the ride characteristics of the vehicle. The spring rate is stiffer on most. ( I had 2" drop springs on my '03 Silverado and didn't notice a change, but many ppl claim the ride is too harsh). Out back, hangers and shackles are the easiest way, but you could also opt for drop leaves. The shackles are a snap and should take about 30 minutes. The hangers are a bit more complicated and you'll have to drill/chisel out the rivets to replace with the drop hangers. For manufacturers, my vote goes to McGaughy's.

I put 2" drop spindles on my 91 1500...stock rims rubbed against the lower control arms...had to grind the lip around the lower ball joint so they wouldn't rub. (However custom rims did not rub.)

you most likely will have to trim your rear bumpstops down. I cut mine in half and it was fine.

Re: 2/4 drop on 98 chevy 1500
Should a went with a 4/6... you actually would have had better towing capacity believe it or not. With a 2/4 you are going to find the thing bottoming out all the time on the bumpstops and you are going to be pressed to find even an air over leaf kit for it unless you fab it in there yourself. Now if you are going to work the truck, you actually could still put a c-notch in it like Bell Techs bolt on notch and that will help out greatly

Re: 2/4 drop on 98 chevy 1500
A notch isn't needed on the 88-98 trucks w/only a 2/4 drop. They're not near as bad as the 99-06 trucks. As far as a helper kit, I'm pretty sure McGaughy's makes one, as does Belltech. Could be wrong about that though.

Re: 2/4 drop on 98 chevy 1500
88-98's still have clearance issues with a 2/4..... I would notch it. And yes you can put a helper bag set up on it with a double convoluted airspring and it will effectively ride like a 3/4 ton truck. You can do a side frame weld on with it, but it is going to require a little more fab work.......
