Re: Off topic but........

lol...
I "hear" a couple guys on the board have the kit, have not seen any finished pics on this board yet.
Still a little too pricey for me. I'll keep the "wings" for now.

Re: Off topic but........

^ That's what I'm saying. Vent windows are a big part of the nostalgia of owning one of these trucks. Why take away such a great thing? Those little buggers are going to be my poor man's A/C.

Re: Off topic but........

Also, the vent window gives you room for a well placed speaker in the door.

I love my vent windows.

Re: Off topic but........

Tony there are a couple of guys that hang out in the 73-87 forum that have bought the kit. I don't think anyone has the install completed yet.

Chris (Capt Kaos) is planning on doing an install himself since he is selling the kits. His wife just had a baby a couple of months ago so he has had other priorities.

Re: Off topic but........

well as odd as it sounds, I am with you guys on the looks part and as soon as I pick up a 81-87 SW I will leave it on there.... I was actually thinking about putting them in my 91 Burban though... it is nothing more than my hunting / driving rig and my current vent windows are leaking a bit and make road nooise.......

# 1 reason for eliminating them.
# 2 would be because any dumba** w/screwdriver can pry the latch open & gain access to your truck.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

On the other hand.... #2 was definitely beneficial when "dumbass A decided to leave his keys in the trailer which was in california. Dumbass arrived at said airport in Louisville KY and remembered how much of a dumbass he really was. Then dumbass looked to the side of said Suburban and noticed where a parking lot stripping crew had gone home for the evening but had very graciously left a screwdriver umongst their equipment which helped me.... I mean dumbass gain entry to the suburban and the spare set of keys in the console....... Hence, dumbass has more freakin roadnoise now....

True, but I've had several attempts using a small tool vs. using a big rock. I still would rather the vents be gone.

I've actually pulled stuff out of the bed (steel scrap, 2x4's) & stashed it in the cab because I figured it could be used to smash a window. It would suck to be the 'source' of an object some a**wipe uses to break into your truck.....
