Windshield Install Questions?

OK, here is my question.
Has anyone taken an original windshield from a parts vehicle and placed it in their newly remodeled/ repaired vehicle.
Is their a problem with the window frosting up?

Re: Windshield Install Questions?

Frosting is from age.Not all will do it.If the glass is clear, swapping it won`t effect it.But,it may frost at some point and more likely than a new one.

Re: Windshield Install Questions?

just be warned if you want to remove the glass from the parts truck then cut it out and replace the gasket!

Re: Windshield Install Questions?

You don't need to cut the gasket to remove the windshield...see FAQ...and if the weather is cold use some craft sticks along the top edge...VERY EASY and you can save an expensive gasket.

Wink Re: Windshield Install Questions?

I have alway's removed them easily too but my current 67 would not do it , my old gasket was hard as a brick and would not flex , so I ordered a new gasket , all of them to be exact , got one for the rear too , I have my old windshield out here safe and it's not broke or even scratched but it's frosted as you put it , I wish they was some way we could clear them up , I have an idea but don't know if it will work , I'm gonna try it and let you know if it work's

Re: Windshield Install Questions?

if the gasket is real soft you can sometimes peel it out with out breaking but a 35 or 40 gasket to save an expensive windsheild is money well spent to me!
