Question Mounting tach behind das bezel - how?

(this is a repeat from WLEE's dash bezel post - please ignore if you have already answered)

Just out of curiosity, HOW IN THE HELL do you mount the tach behind the dash bezel, without destroying the printed circuit board? When I ripped out my bezel, I was greeted with an old cranky looking printed circuit board that was covering the hole in the center. (where WLEE's tach is mounted) I didn't feel brave enough at the time to start cutting chunks out, so my tach still sits on top of the steering column.

Installing a factory tach into a stock non-tach cluster requires several additonal parts----You need to have the tach-dash plastic circuit board that allows for the depth of the tach---you need the inner housing to allow the tach to fit inside it--you need the tach plastic face that gives you the numbers ie 1,000, 2000 for rpms---you can do some cutting of an original gauge cluster to make the tach fit but will still need that plastic circuit board for all your electrical connections---lights, amp, temp, etc. Take a look in a LMC or other catalog for the parts--- pieces. Huck is correct. There's a printed circuit made to accomodate a tach in a gauge cluster. It essentially has an opening in the circuit right where the tach will be. The circuits are all rerouted around that opening.

(For some reason I have a "tach" printed circuit behind my NON-TACH gauge panel........ heh!)

Instead of hacking up my gauge panel.... I just strapped a tach over the steering column. Perfectly fits in front of that otherwise empty 3-4" opening there.

Good luck.

I think????????? He means like the 7000 RPM CAMARO tach..

GO to "search" and type in CAMARO TACH. You'll find "CAMARO TACH INSTALL THREAD"

The article was written by (USER NAME) "ORIGINAL69"

It is a complete install instructions.
