Dana 44 HD yoke

I hope the pic shows the groove the seal has worn in the yoke of this used axle I picked up. Can I emery this out? recover the surface with those kits (like for your rear axle spindles). Or do I just shell out for a new one?

It's a stock 13 series not the beefy 14.
If Have to buy one I'd go with the 14, but I'd rather not spend the $$ on this part right now.

Any imput is welcome
