Re: 2wd center cap ???

Not as far as I know. If anyone else knows of anything, please let us know. All I know about are the 4x4 and the 4x2 caps from the factory.

Re: 2wd center cap ???

I may be looking for something that doesn't exist, I thought there was one that looked more like this one [without the plastic of course]...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVR...QQcmdZViewItem

If not I'll be leaving mine uncovered, those huge caps don't look good on these wheels.

Re: 2wd center cap ???

Are the late 90's Chevy 6 lugs the same bolt pattern as ours or are they a metric deal ??? How to the newer ones attach to the rims ?? there are tons of the late 90's ones all over e-bay in black , silver and chrome.... trying to figure out if they'll work...

Re: 2wd center cap ???

Those are attached by the plastic wheel-lug caps, not screws like ours are, I think the 4x4 and the one above are the only choices.

Re: 2wd center cap ???

Yea there are I believe two wheel drive and four wheel drive center caps. the longer ones (5") are four wheel drive, to match the open fronts for the locking hubs. The shorter ones (3 1/4") are two wheel drive models. I wound up drilling two holes thru the outer end and glued a plate with some nutplates on the inside of the center cap. I had some 71 Dog dish Impala hub caps that I liked and drilled holes to match the ones in the center caps. then just screwed them on. It looks like a regular pair of hubcaps, but they have the ralley wheels and beauty rims on the outside. I think it looks pretty cool. Sorry I don't have any pictures right now, the trucks kinda been covered over in the garage.

Re: 2wd center cap ???

With the center cap flat on the ground, it measures 4" tall. These were on the truck when I got it, so I'm not sure where they were purchased. I checked the cap and it had two numbers:
KT-1281 down inside the cap
KT-1280 on the inside lip where it slips over the lugnuts.

Here is what I originally did on mine, 4x4 caps with Walmart spot mirrors and a little Clear RTV glue stuff.

I'm using late model (88-98) style caps on it now with the special lug nuts.

Re: 2wd center cap ???

I picked up my lug nuts from Stockton Wheel. They convert the 7/16" thread or 1/2" thread of our trucks to the metric thread hold-ons for the center caps. Right now I have them on my wagon wheels for rolling around the shop. Eventually they will go back on the ralleys.

Re: 2wd center cap ???

Thanks a million for that info! When you say converts do you mean they have a separate thread system on the outside like an S-10 for the 'cover' lug nuts or are they just shouldered lugs?

Can you show me which ones on this page?

I guess we are talking same. The inside threads of the nut are SAE 1/2 or 7/16, while the outside is still metric from the little black lug caps.

From your page it would be one of these
Outside Thread for Chevy Lug Covers
Part Number Size Height Hex
C2002 7/16" RH 1.12" 7/8"
C2004 1/2" RH 1.12" 7/8"

OK cool...now all I have to do is find out whether it's a 7/16" or 1/2" thread. Thanks!!

Re: 2wd center cap ???

You can also screw these on with a 1/4"x20 self tapping screw from the backside of the wheel through the original center cap bolt holes. The newer centers have long stems on the back with plugs in them. Take out the plugs and the stems are hollow. Then you can use chrome lug nuts to hold the wheels on.

I have detailed pics of how I installed these if you want them. I just don't have them on my computer at work. I'll have to get them later.
