i have a 307 sbc that i am going to rebuild due to no compression on one of my cylinders and when i put it back together i am installing an hei system and i am going to use the wire looms pictured below. i need to know what the best style header to use so i don't burn up my plug boots and will look neat and clean with this setup this is a non ac and no power steering truck so shouldn't be anything like that to worry about

if you go with a set from "made for you" you don't have to worry about it.

i need new headers anyways and wanna use the looms i have but thanks for the link i will have to book mark it for my other vehicles

Okay, speaking from experience here, if you use those looms, get a st of do it yourself plug wires, or they won't look or work like you want them to, trust me. But if they do end up the right way, they look great. Justin

You said other vehicals so the extra exspence on a good set of plug wire pliers is well spent IMO. I like the way you can make them fit just like you want them to. I make up all of mine since I did my first set. The best part is you can put a different boot on each and every plug end to maximize header clearence issuses.

i do have a set of do it yourself wires so thats not gonna be a problem now all i need is to figure out which headers i should run to make those wires look the best and not get burned up

Asking what kind of headers to run is like asking which kind of carb to buy. There's just too many opinions out there. But here's mine. If you want to spend the money, get a set of Thorley's. If your on a budget, Hookers are great (they're what I have). If your on a tighter budget, get Flowtechs (and buy a few sets of extra gaskets). Ceramic coated is always a plus too, but costs more $. . A lot of guys here like Headman so that's another option.

The possibilities are endless. I like hookers due to the collector flange. A lot of the cheapies have a ring flange and a flare on the end of the pipe. And they tend to have thinner flanges at the primary tubes.
I like them to have a welded flange at the collector, and a thick flange on the primary tubes. Mine's not a "looker" so I opted to not get ceramic coated, may regret it later, but I'll worry about that then.

I would have bought headers,then found wires and looms to work with the headers,personally.
