Post Hillbilly custom engine compartment?

So i posted about a week ago that I was looking for some suggestions for an HEI setup for my 292. Nice board member, Jose, e-mails me telling me he has on for sale some i send my money and got the stuff pretty darn quick. That is not my problem this is, After wreaking havoc on my old distributor i put in the hei only to find out it wont fit under my alternator. I e-mail Jose today and tell him ( No not looking for refund ) that it didnt work out for above reason and he says why is your alternator on pass side. Well, anyway here are two pics of my engine compartment can anyone else tell me what else just dont look right??

this is pass side

drivers

and just one of a pretty sunset

Was that converted to disk? the master looks like a disc one and the lines are all fubared. And I was thinkin that the alt is supposed to be there...I know it was on the original '67 nline 250 i worked on alot in Tx.
That is a d@mn purdy sunset there too. But ours is against green grass now.

Alaskan Man, I believe that is a 250. The 292 has the fuel pump in a different spot and the alternator is mounted on the other side for the 292. This is just from my experince. Are you sure that it is a 292
How tall are the lifter covers??

Looks like a 292 to me. Fuel pump on 250 are in front of motor mount. Looks like yours is in back of motor mount. I added PS to my truck after motor rebuild and alternator is below that on drivers side.

the alternator should be on the drivers side where your p/s is. the p/s should be above the alternator. just like in boilrman's pics. if the side covers are about 5 inches tall then it is a 292 if they are about 3 inches tall then it is a 230 or 250. I've got a 292 and something looks funny in your pic but I haven't worked on mine in a while, so I can't say what it is. If I can remember I'll try to get a pic of mine for ya.

Hey, Thanks everybody now I am pretty sure it is a 292 as lifter covers are about 5 inches tall & the fuel pump is mounted behind engine mount.

Longhorn - Yes it has been converted to power disk brakes

The Blue Pig - I am in Valdez, it gets tooo damn cold up there lol

Boilrman - Your engine is my goal, looks great, do you do any towing??

AlaskaMan,

Not normally. Although I did pull my 95 astro to the garage the other day as the tranny was going.

The motor looks as good as it does due to the #1 piston in the original motor decided it had had enough and put a nice big hole in the side of the block. I had this one machined and rebuilt it myself. I have about 1300 mi on it now.

Tom can you send me some pictures of lower drivers side and the pulleys . I wonder if somebody put it on the pass side cause they put something in the way . See if there is a bracket or holes for a bracket just above the front oil pan drivers side . Alternator would normally be mounted on that bracket . I can get you a bracket . What is that pipe running underneath the manifold ?
