2WD & 4WD Z- bars the same?
Are all the 67-72 V8 Z-bars the same, on both 2WD & 4WD providing the engine was in the "rear" position? I need one for a 68 V8 4x4, along with the rod that goes thru the firewall to the clutch pedal. A board member has one off a 2wd, but I don't want to get it just to throw it in my "thought it would work" collection.
I'm looking for a solid answer from somebody with the parts books or "been there done that" experience. Thanks!

Re: 2WD & 4WD Z- bars the same?
Although the engine sets more to the rear in a 4x4, the ball on the engine that supports the "Z" bar is mounted so that the "Z" bar is in the same position as the 2 wd. I have looked at both "Z" bars and they appear to be identical.

Re: 2WD & 4WD Z- bars the same?
The difference in the Z-Bars and linkage rod coming out is the motor size. The V-8's are all the same and the 6cyl are different than the V-8, so as long as you match up to the motor you are using it will work.

Re: 2WD & 4WD Z- bars the same?
Thanks for the help everyone. I recently talked to an old timer buddy I hadn't seen for a while. He's got 67-72 stuff stashed all over his acreage. I'll be getting one from him. For some reason, he's gone from not wanting to let stuff go to agreeing to my helping him sell some of it. He's got a hurd 73- up trucks he wants to fix up for himself, plus a solid 70 Chevelle convertable- that he isn't ready to do anything with. At least it is in a shed.
