rear shock mounting
Has anyone used the shock relocators from GMC Pauls? I have the relocators installed and now was trying to install my KYB shocks from ECE but the lower shock eye doesn't have a sleeve in the rubber and the kit from GMC Pauls only came with 1/2 bolts and nuts. I am thinking that I need a stud similar if not the same as what is used on the front shock mounting. My questions are
1) should the lower shock eye have a sleeve in the rubber? 2) where to get hardware to finish installation. Thanks |

Re: rear shock mounting
I used the shock relocators from ECE along with the KYB shocks. The shock relocators included the lower piece that bolts up underneath the trailing arm and is secured by the U-bolt. I can't remember if the lower shock eye had a sleeve in the rubber or not, but ECE supplied a stud and spacer for the lower mount. The stud had a smooth round head with two sides flattened so you could fit a box end wrench on it while you torqued the nut on the other end of the stud.
Terry at ECE is a good guy to talk to about technical issues. Hope this helps Pete |

Re: rear shock mounting
Thanks Shock_Me. I talked to ECE today and they sold me some kind of bolt kit, hopefully that fixes it. I looks to me like the shock will still need a sleeve because the id of the shock eye is 5/8" and the relocator kit only supplied a 1/2" bolt for mounting.
