67-68 grille treatments

I was wondering if anyone had pics of a 67-68 grill painted white without the 3 outter trim pieces, and silver or chrome headlight bezels. Every one that I see that is white has the outter trim, and I would like to make sure it looks ok with out before I paint.

Thanks

Never seen one without the trim myself, (they never came that way) however I think it would look funny, no trim to break up the color... kinda like when you see a two tone truck with the trim missing.

Re: 67-68 grille treatments

it looks good still. mine was like that before I primed the whole truck. to be honest i think it looks better white w/o the trim.

I'll try to dig up some old pics for you.

Re: 67-68 grille treatments

I like the look of the white grill, but my truck dosent have the holes for the trim. Its a 67, I dont think trim was an option until 68. I saw a picture on this web site with the grill painted silver w/o trim, it looked pretty good. I would like to see how it looks with white.

Re: 67-68 grille treatments

What I am concerened with is the transition from a color other than white, to the white grill without the trim to break it up. I will look around and see if I can find the pic of the guy that painted his grill silver w/o trim.

AHHHH.... I see. I read into that one too much. I do agree that body color looks better when there is no trim on the outside but, I also would like to see what it looks like.

Re: 67-68 grille treatments

You could try something like this too. I wanted white, but not the whole grill face.

Re: 67-68 grille treatments

I would paint the inside white, then pinstripe to break up the white and body color.

Re: 67-68 grille treatments

You're welcome. This is what it will look like if you don't use a pinstripe or trim to differentiate the two colors - looks better in person, I've seen it, but the pinstripe really makes it look nicer (sorry for the quick, nasty ass photoshop job):

I just took a grille out of a plain Jane 68 3/4 ton. The whole part is painted silver with no trim. I might have a pic of it before I took it out. The headlight bezels were silver, grille 2pieces were silver with siver back ground too. I"ll have to take a look.
