GM grille shell vs. reproduction

Does anyone have any observations on the quality and fit of the reproduction grille shells available?

Not lately. The GM ones are WAY up. I'm afraid they are going to go obsolete before I can put together the money to buy one.

gm grilles are around $600.00 shipped to us. gmpartsdirect has them for $496 but shipping brings them to $600.00 as of last week. We sell the Repros for $299.00 but they have no letters. We use to sell an aluminum one with letters but have trouble getting them now.

I agree but we sell a wide range of parts to fit every budget. One of our customers has a 1969 and they just wanted a better looking grille without cashing in his 401k He was happy with it. Its nice to have the option.

Re: GM grille shell vs. reproduction

A couple months ago I bought an upper grille bar for my 70 GMC from Mike's.
It is not installed yet but have done the test fitting and comparison to the original. I have GM fender eyebrows and grille. They seem to fit this Tri-Plus piece just fine.
I sure cant see any substantial differences and a tape measure doesn't see any either. Sure, I havent done final assembly yet, but I am confident its going to fit and look great.

Later---DAC
