warning dash to gauge dash: How hard is it?

Trying to plan ahead on some things, and I'm curious what all would be needed to accomplish this. Also, how does the fuel gauge attach? My sending unit harness was cut when I got it. Does this hook up to the gauge or the fuse box? Thanks.

Re: warning dash to gauge dash: How hard is it?

Are you planning to use original style gauges, ribbon wiring etc?

Mine was a mess. Tossed it aside and bought a gauge type bezel and hard wired in the 4 lower gauges I wanted. Used a pair of 6 connector trailer plugs to allow for easier future removal, and wired them into the stock wiring harness. Replaced the 6 push and twist "night lights" with side marker light sockets and bulbs.

It took a while to trace out the wiring but it worked the 1st time and I'm happy with the results.

Re: warning dash to gauge dash: How hard is it?

I'll probably go w/ stock fuel and speedo, but I like the 80s style smaller gauges (quartz clock, oil, temp, etc.). They seem to give more info, but do they? In that, I mean are they accurate? I like it that they actually have numbers on them. Would these be hard to install/wire in? Other than these, any other ideas? Not sure about which tach...
