looking at a project for my brother and I What do you think?

Well my brother is a member on the other part of this forum (73 87) p/u. His name is 84 400. Anyways he wanted to get a project truck that my father him and I could work on and then use as a shared daily driver. He wants to give it to me to use in high school. But because of his current situation he has no time to look for a truck and no time for them in general till the next month. So i have been looking around for somthing we could all work on. This is what i found:
1967 chevy LWB
1977 305
turbo hydro 3 speed guessing it is the 350
has 5 spoke 94-96 impala SS like wheels
also has edy torker II
holly carb
headers
rear small window??
body in good overall shape
frame in good shape minus cab mounting brackets

okay so now what is the project stuff:
305 smokes alittle
t gate latches shot
wood bed while stable has some holes
cab corners have a few small spots of rust
The biggest worry the cab mounts need replacing! I mean the ones on the frame not the cab floor. However my brother does work with a certifed welder who would do it for a small fee.

This truck is right in our price range and seems to be a good daily driver / project. It is currently on the road.
Would you happen to know of a place to decode the vin number?? or should i post it?
price was 2k or best and i think he will go down .
What do you all think??????

I would buy it. Looks pretty solid and not to bad of a price for a 67. I think it would make a great build any way you want to build it.

Cab mounts are easy, 4 rivets, $25 for a used set and some grade 8 bolts and your set. I'd talk him down a little if I were you... Up to what you thinks it's worth. Numbers don't match so the sky's the limit on what you want to do...

Re: looking at a project for my brother and I What do you think?

wow glade to hear that the mounts are only rivits!!!!! He said he will go down. The truck has a wood bed which was a plus for me and the only thing that really gets me down is that it is an auto We were really hoping for a manual but heck at the price if it is in good shape it would be alright. Will post more as i know more. any hints on decoding a vin?? also truck is rated at 5,000 so that makes it a half ton right??

Re: looking at a project for my brother and I What do you think?

1/2 ton = 6 lug wheels unless someone changed it over to 5 lug. Almost Everything is riveted to the frame on these. Looks like it has power brakes and steering that's a ++. I'd get a new seat cover and some metal door panels and drive the snot outta it. Good luck

Unless you are refering to the cab supports as cab mounting brackets. Those are welded in and could be called cab mounts by some.

c=2WD
e=V8
1=1/2ton

j=janesville plant
129378 = 29,378th truck built?

the sticker on the glove box door will give you another number and a list of options.

yeah he said that they were the only problem on the frame so i am guessing that they are the brackets rivited to the frame.

Re: looking at a project for my brother and I What do you think?

sure looks like a mut of a truck. yellow cab with silver dash and door paint PS fender has hint of light blue...... As long as it is solid we don't mind. would also be a good chance to try our hand at painting.....

yeah looking at the interor shots which so some close up of the paint it looks like eather rust was painted over acrillic paint was used or really poor prep eather way that is just part of the fun of a project truck
