Talking 70 4X4 K10 LWB Frame (DFW)

The frame has a lift kit installed but I can not verify how much. The frame section around the steering box has been reinforced and I can see that a crack was welded near one of the bolt holes.
The axles are 3.07 ratio open. I pulled the covers to look at them and found sludge in the rear and some water and sludge in the front. They have been sitting a while. The gears have some surface rust on them from the water but they are mashed well with no abnormal wear indications.

Asking $350.00 for frame and axles without my Blazers trailer tires and wheels.
Will part out if there is no interest in the complete frame.
Lift kit 125.00 plus shipping
Axles 75.00 each
Crossmembers 30.00 each............

Thanks

Re: 70 4X4 K10 LWB Frame (DFW)

I'm interested in the springs and shackles if they're worth saving.
Any idea if the stock front springs on a 72 are smile or frown (technical terms) type? Mine are frowners...

Re: 70 4X4 K10 LWB Frame (DFW)

If you decide to part I really need both rear cab mounts (part that has 4 rivets to frame on each side). I need them by the end of next week if possible. Can you take a close of pic of them, I circled them in yellow. Thanks... please let me know because I am waiting on a few people to commit to selling some, first pics get the dough...

Also might be interested in the steering box and drag link if the price with shipping is right.

Mike

Re: 70 4X4 K10 LWB Frame (DFW)

72lb4x4- I am not sure what you are asking. These springs seem to be in good shape but I am not sure the lift they will give. If the frame dont sell by Friday, I will spend the weekend stripping it down. I will quote you then on them and we should be able to meet in Dallas for you to pick them up if you want them.

Mike- I do not want to seperate untill this weekend. I see that Krue is checking on some for you. If that falls through, I will help you out with the brackets then. I will try to get pics soon, this truck is on the farm. I will try to get out there.

Thanks,
Mario

Re: 70 4X4 K10 LWB Frame (DFW)

No problem, not everyone can make sense of my gibberish... Sometimes not even me.

Some time in the 70's GM decided to use springs that were sort of inverted on the front of the truck. I mean that instead of the spring arch forming sort of a smile when viewed from the side, they formed more of a frown shape.

That may not have clarified much if anything.

Re: 70 4X4 K10 LWB Frame (DFW)

I got what you are saying now. My Blazer springs are "frowning" as are the ones on the other truck I have(see picture). These have a big smile on them in comparison.

Re: 70 4X4 K10 LWB Frame (DFW)

What years are the trucks with the frown type springs? Mine's a 72.

On the frame, assuming you're going to part it, could you measure the diameter of a/the tire(s) and the distance from the ground to the bottom of the frame at the front and rear.

Assuming mine has 4" of lift, and the tires are whatever diameter, we should be able to compare the two sets of numbers, and get the lift. Am I a geek or what?

BTW: Where's "east DFW?" I'm in Grapevine, which is NE Tarrant county. For reference, the NW part of DFW airport is in Grapevine.

Re: 70 4X4 K10 LWB Frame (DFW)

I am in Royse City. East on I30. I have the tires you see in the pic on another truck and that one is sitting on blocks. It will be a few days before I can measure them on that frame.
The truck I am going to part this weekend is the 68-70 that has the flat or frowning springs.

Re: 70 4X4 K10 LWB Frame (DFW)

I think it would be fine to just measure from the ground to the center of the hub, and from the ground to to the bottom of the frame at the front and rear.
