Is a 12 bolt posi unit/carrier for a our trucks the same as a 12 bolt posi/carrier for a car?

Re: 12 Bolt Posi ?

No it isn't, the car has a bigger pinion shaft, and the housings are different.

Re: 12 Bolt Posi ?

Not talking about the gears or housing........the posi carrier itself. A few people in the past have told me that they are the same. Just want to make sure of this on here.....

Re: 12 Bolt Posi ?

I am 99% sure that the carrier is different, just because everything else is different, the housing, gears, etc. Plus car and truck rears always have seperate listings for part numbers, etc.

Re: 12 Bolt Posi ?

The differences are the pinion shaft diameter, 1.438" for a truck and 1.625" for a passenger car and the bolt patterns.

Eaton 12-bolt Posi carrier:

The car version is one part number, the truck is a different part number entirely. Ring and pinion sets are entirely different too.
