Belts wont stay on pulleys

I have a 1986 silverado and whenb ever i rev the motor high the belts fall off the pully, and well that wont do.

My truck is all v belt setup, not part sepertin, part v belt. My pulley appear to be lined up and i cant tighten the belt any freather (they are all the way for the bracket and the belt are tight as crap). So how do i solve this problem will i need smaller belts or is something else wrong.

This will be my 3rd belt swap cause nothing seems to work right.

P.s. Truck is an ac truck but without the compressor and all bracket are out of a non ac truck. Ill take pics soon.

Same here. I replaced my belt with a Pro-Cog that I got from Advance and never threw one again.

Re: Belts wont stay on pulleys

check your pulleys....make sure they line up, if they dont...then your truck will throw the belts everytime (been there, and it sucks out in BFE oklahoma lol). if they are off "alignment", use washers to correct the problem

Re: Belts wont stay on pulleys

well i found one problem i took the fan pully from my 327 block i had laying around but i didnt take the crank pully causeing some issues for the line up. After that was fixed i managed to get the power steering to stop falling off but the fan and alt belt is well bent it curves. Dont know if this cause the belt wanting to rotate in the grove so the botom is up but it stys in place.

I get another one and see what happens and most likey a better one. BUt i didnt know gator back made a v belt.

Re: Belts wont stay on pulleys

Take a look at all your brackets too. I had a problem like this in the past and it turned out to be a cracked bracket the flexed as the motor was revved. At idle everything looked fine but when the engine torqued from revving up it caused a misalignment and threw the belt.
