u joint replacement help
im in the process of replacing the u goints on my truck. how exactly do you get the u joint off of the driveshaft? i already took the retaining rings off of the sides. what do i do next? can i do it my self or will i have to take it to a shop?

After you remove the clips you drive the entire joint one direction till the cup with the bearing either falls out the other side or you can remove the joint from inbetween the ears of the shaft. Another way that may work easier is to use a vise using the same principal. Using the vise is the best way to reinstall the new joint. And don't forget to install the zerk fitting afterwards & grease it. Those joints are rather tough after 10 or more years.
