pitman arm location
guys, how far up the steering box shaft is the pitman arm supposed to go up? I'm wondering because I have a lot of spline left on mine. It looks like the pitman arm can slide up about 3/4 of an inch more. If I can do this, my tie-rod clearance issues might be solved. Here is a pic of what I'm talking about. Can you check to see where yours is at?

Re: pitman arm location
yea I just read a very good thread about this. That splined shaft is tapered, so the pitman arm only can go so far up. So I dont think I would be able to get it up any higher.

Well that makes me feel better because mine is the same way. Thanks for the thread.

Re: pitman arm location
As long as the nut is torqued and the threads pass all the way thru the nut with the lock wahser in place, everything should be good

Re: pitman arm location
it's a tapered hole on a tapered shaft ... much like a ball joint. once the nut is fully torqued, the tapers are seated.
