These convert your van column wiring plug to the stock harness curved plug. Im giving them with the van columns Im selling on the parts board. Here's a pic of wht they look like.

Hey, I've got one of those cramed up under my dash with the rest of the rat's nest of "modified" wiring!

I just got this truck a couple of months ago, and the previous owner denied knowing much about the mods as they were done by the owner previous to him, who is now deceased. Anyway, does this mean I have a van steering column? It is for an automatic, no tilt, and it is painted a tan color that matches the dashboard pad and the headliner. (the rest of the interior is Saddle, which is quite a bit darker) The shift indicator lense holder is not the typical brushed aluminum looking unit, but I had seen a post on another board that indicated it may be different for a Cheyenne. Is there any way to tell a van column just by looking?
Anybody got any ideas?

Those plugs came in the replacement signal switch kits for years, just the basic kit came with it, even if you didnt need it.
Someone may of replaced the turn singnal switch, which is pretty common. You can tell van columns from truck ones but you have to have compared the two beside each other to recognize the differences. Look at the neutral safety switch. If it is designed to move with a tab sticking up into the neutral safety switch which has a groove to accept the tab, then its good chance its original truck column. Van columns have holes cut out higher up the column shaft then truck columns. Van columns have neutral safety that has a tab from the switch sticking into a hole in the inner tube of column. Little things like correct signal arms, correct wiring plugs,lenght of shaft out the bottom. Lenght of the shifter arms. There are differences. Horn assembly, type of hazard switch knob. etc.
But van columns will work with a little bit of mods. Tilt van ones are popular.

i am unsure and wish i knew why ppl think that only van columns have flat style wiring connector, all 73-up have flat style as far as ive ever seen. half moon went bye bye in 73 in everything. the half mopon to flat adaptors are everywhere and cheap and come with new switch assemblies from GM at least, dunno about aftermarket suppiers, unless they are from GM(NOS or GM new replacement)

Rod, thanks for the tips. I will check it out this weekend as I plan to try to clean up some of the wiring mess.
Fast68, I guess I just assumed if it wasn't the original, it looks like OEM, and all of the posts regarding changing columns all reference the van columns.
Anyway, thanks for all the help.
