Re: Hello from the new guy

Congrats on the new truck! I hope you got it for cheap. That's the one I called and emailed for 2 weeks getting info, drove 2.5 hours one way in the early morning to beat traffic, looked at for 5 minutes and walked away from.

I really enjoyed how the ad and he himself claimed 'no rust' only to find the large hole in the rocker panel behind the driver's door and around the bottom of the doors (where I stopped looking). He also claimed 'new' weather stripping and a complete 'redo' in his shop.

I am by no means knocking you or your purchase, and I really hope you enjoy the truck. Just slightly ticked at being lied to CONSTANTLY about vehicles and conditions. If it has rust, say so; If you don't have a title, say so; If you tried to do a paint job and screwed it up, say so!! Sheesh!

Count yourself lucky, my search continues!

The truck I am replacing:

Re: Hello from the new guy

Welcome from up the road a bit in Bellevue. Looks nice. Where did you find it? Try to bring it to the truck show at XXX ROOT BEER (http://www.triplexrootbeer.com/) on July 22nd. I think it would be great if we could get a lot of board members to bring their rigs again this year...

Nice truck, and welcome to the boards from Philly.

Yeah this truck was in Bonney Lake. Yeah I called him on the "no rust description" in the add. I could tell he was a bull$h1tter...

But I was pleased with the truck and every other blazer I looked at was a rust bucket. I talked him down on the price.

Re: Hello from the new guy

Since I got it home I have been going over it, the transfer case seems to be leaking, noticed the gas tank has a small leak also. I asked the guy what gears he had in it and he didnt know. I assume its a turbo350 with a NP205. Did these truck come stock with 410 gearing? Speedo doesnt work and he said the tilt is not oem, I'll take more pics and post em up.

Hopefully you guys can help me out here....

Everyone here seems to be really helpfull.

COOL! I'm glad you found the rust, he was trying to act like he had no idea. Good job on the lower price; He was firm at $6800 when I looked at it.

The truck I am replacing:
Steven, I feel your pain, I drove 3.5 hours one way into Washington to look at a Blazer that was only suppose to have one small ding in the rear quarter panel. I did not even have to get out of the car, the one "ding" was where a piece of bondo the size of my fist fell out. The only pieces that did not have a ton of body filler or a good size dent or rust was one door, the hood and a front fender. I told him thanks for wasting my time and started back home in less then 5 minutes.

By the way, why do you need to replace the Suburban? Just wondering.

I'm sorry, but I just laughed out loud when I read your bondo line, 'cause it just happened to me again - very frustrating. I just went on a 3 hour round trip to The Dalles yesterday. Went to look at 3 blazers, 2 of them 4x and 1 was supposed to be an original 2x. The seller stated 2 were pretty close to beng ready to paint. Drove up to the house and all were sitting outside, windows down, dented all over, rusty and full of junk (one had an old outboard motor in the passenger seat, in the 2x you could not see the floor or seats due to the 'parts' covering it). I looked at the 2x and saw the leaf springs, told him 'no thanks' and left.

I got in the truck and my wife said 'I knew we wouldn't be taking anything when we drove up and saw the condition of the house and trucks'

Like an idiot, I sold the 'burb, (I loved that truck) because I wanted a convertible blazer - just thought it would be easy to find one, but not yet.
