Re: should I cut these cups
Well, I don't think I would cut them anymore. The part of the a-arm behind the bag in the picture slopes up, so I'm sure the arm is real close to the bag as is.
I'm at this same exact point in my build. This is what I'm doing, alot of work, but should be nice when done: I am going to cut a 9 inch hole in the arm, and insert a round piece of pipe. Then I'm going to weld a plate on the bottom of the arm. All 1/4 material. Should be stronger than stock and allow the bag to sit about 1.5-2 inches lower in the arm. Gonna start that today. I went to a welders supply store and bought an old tank for 20 bucks to get the 9" round steel. |

Re: should I cut these cups
that cup should be fine if you are running slambags becuase they are strong and thick incase the bag rubs alittle,, firestones would tear way too fast

Re: should I cut these cups
I had the air ride kit originally. plate top, cup bottom. I switched to a cup up top and it lowered the truck a little over an inch. Cups are only $35 if buy, free if you are resourceful and can weld.
My set up now, i trimmed the spring pocket, puts cups up top, tubular arms, and 2" dropped McGaughy spindles. My truck will lay crossmember on 22's. I tried a friends 3" dropped belltechs and it will lay 24's. however, im just on 20's. |

Re: should I cut these cups
No bag should EVER be put in a situation where it rubs. Period. Slam Specialties doesn't have some kryptonite-based rubber in their bags.

Re: should I cut these cups
im not saying its ok to let them rub but ive seen bags with bottom cups cut too short and do rub, i was saying the slam bags are thicker. and dont tear as easy if that was the case.. never said superman used them as a suit and thats why he didnt get hurt
