Any tricks to keeping full wheel covers on?

Twice now, (To my horror!) one of my wheel covers has come off while diriving. Luckily it hasn't gotten flattened by traffic.

Are there any tricks to keeping these things on? Do I dare bend the tabs around the edge of the cover more? It's hard enough now to get on the wheel covers on.

Does it happen to the same wheel each time? If so, inspect that wheel VERY carefully. Hub caps pop off for 2 reasons. The tabs that hold them arent strong enough, or you have too much wheel deflection. As your turning, the wheel actually gives and moves. this action is what helps work the hubcap off.

Well, curbs are a big reason too.

Well I haven't run into any curbs lately!

I think my wheel is OK. It's always the same wheel. I do have 3 out of the 24 tabs broken off on the one cover that works its way loose. Should I try bend the tabs out more? The wheel cover is a bugger to get on the way it is.

If the 3 are close together I think you've found your problem. Normaly with this many tabs you wouldnt have a problem though. Try locating the cover to a rear wheel (if its on the front) and see if the same cover pops off. There will be less flex from the rear wheels than the front.
