How long can a carb sit?
 How long can a carb sit before it needs rebuilt? I am looking at a 4 barrell carter i think and intake and it has been off the car for 4 months... guy wants $100 for them both.

I would think you would be ok. As long as hes telling the truth. Ive ran carbs of upwards of 6 monthes sitting time.

i've taken NOS carbs that have sat on a shelf over 50years old bolted them on and they've worked fine

I have an old Z28 that sat for two years, I primed the carb and it cranked right up. It took a tank of gas with some stp in it and it was back to perfect.

If it didn't have gas sitting in it, it's OK for a long, long time.

It usually takes a couple year,or over one,for a carb to get plugged-up.
