Post Retro-fit Rack and Pinion steering

Has anyone put a rack and pinion on their truck or seen it done? I was wondering if so, what a good donor for this project may be. My old box is gettin a little wobbly and worn out, and the thought of a descent rack and pinion just crossed my mind.

I know FATMAN's has a kit for this but I don't know of anyone who has done their "at home" graph. I'd like to see some myself.

I wouldn't do it. WHile the R&P is fine in lightweight car, compared to a recirculating ball setup they are weak and much more prone to wear. Get an AGR quick ratio box for your truck with one of their super pumps and don't think about it again.

this is questionable, most 2wd chevy that are brand new come with rack and pinion. but yeah, i would go with a different ratio box

I think I saw in a truck mag.(wish I could remember which one) a R&P setup from a Dodge Dakota. It seems like it was a kit for Chevy trucks but I can't remember if it was specific to a certain year.

AGR makes boxes for all sorts of vehicles, including increased effort 12:1 performance boxes. Give Summit a call as they are a dealer. I have one of their constant ratio rock-crawler boxes in the Jimmy. If I had to do it again, I would buy the variable ratio unit which gives a better on center feel on the road, more like a new truck.
