Carb kickdown bracket and bolt missing.

Here's a photo of what mine looks like.....I've got an Edelbrock 1405 Carb and I need to hook the kick down cable up. I've purchased a chrome bracket and the bolt which screws into the linkage. Anyone have some photos of how the brackets are hooked up and how the kick down cable hooks to the carb?

holder for the detent can go on many different ways. Edelbrock sells an adaptor plate for your carb to attach the detent to the carb (adjusted to detent at full throttle).. I have seen brackets that go on both the valve cover and intake manifold.

Whichever one you want to use is up to your setup, just be sure its a smooth straight run for that cable.

You definitely need to get the Carb adapter for the kickdown cable connection. It is simple and it makes aligning the cable and a bracket so much easier.

You wouldn’t happen to have the pn# for the adaptor carb plate do you? I think I may need one.

slick71'- I have always moved the front rod in your pic up to the top hole for a little better performance! See if it helps. Sorry I can't help with your question.

from what I understand there are different ones for different carbs. Any Edelbrock dealer should be able to get you the one you need.. As far as the detent mount, I would pull one from a wrecking yard once you get a good idea of the position you will be using..

What I see in the picture is an Edelbrock Performer Series carb and to connect the tranny kickdown on your carb Edelbrock's catalog offers the follow numbered items.

#8018---Automatic kickdown stud--1982 & later TH350 & 400 Chevy
#8030---Throttle, Cruise Control, & Trans. kickdown mounting bracket (chrome plated) Small block Chevy with TH 350, 200R4, and 700R4.
#1484---Cruise Control kit --- required for OEM cruise control hookup (if you need more space to hook up items


In the picture above the detent will attach where the spring is hooked on the throttle linkage.

I would get the #8018 and make my own bracket for the carb base mount or go to O Reillys and get an aftermarket cable mount. I made all of my mounts and they mount to the rear carb mounting bolt with a pin to fit into the spare hole on the carb base to keep the bracket solid (so it doesn't slide around)

Here's my setup, this shows it on my old Demon, but it hooked up the same on my edelbrock 1406 I also have the little chrome bracket that holds the detent cable, I hope this helps you.

The hardest part for me was to figure where? How to unlock the keeper for the kickdown cable, thanks to guys alot smarter then me on this board, I got the info here, & I'm passing it on to you, I drew a box around the keeper that you unlock, look at the last picture, I just stuck a flat blade screw driver in each side & lifted/pryed it up until it snaped open, then have someone in the cab hold the gas pedal to the floor, & then take some pliers & lock the keeper back down & your done.
