One man's junk...

another man's gold!!! Went down to Colorado Springs and picked up a complete 71' C-10 front end from a board member Ernest. The nieghbors kind of scratched their heads when I got back with it, I know they all think I'm crazy for wanting the 35+ year dirty front end....but those with 67 thru 70 might understand! They asked me "Do you have the truck that you are going to put this POS on"? I said 'No",....and that confirmed it to them...Yup he's nuts alright! LOL!

Re: One man's junk...

I wouldn't powder coat unless I did it to the whole frame, I'd want it all to match, imo

Re: One man's junk...

I'd have left it in the back of the truck or trailer and gone by the car wash first with a handfull of quarters

I own a 3000 psi Pressure washer and have a automotive shop so it's already at the shop soaking in 3 cans of oven cleaner. Going to blast tomorrow.

Re: One man's junk...

Nice find. You`re like me.I came home from a swap meet with a`67 GMC front clip(perfect grille/pre-repro) and a cherry 6' Stepside bed (5 or so years ago).I didn`t have a truck for it,but I knew where there were some frames that maybe the owners would sell.I hadn`t talked to any of them, yet.I finally found a use for them after traveling 1,100 miles one way to buy a nice restored frame with a 4/6 drop. Now I can use the California cab I bought 10 or more years ago.I think my sanity has been questioned by at least a few on each one of these. What do they know?

Re: One man's junk...

It's all good Special-K...we all do what we gotta do! I know I am going to build a 67/68 and I know I will need a disc front, so the opportunity was there and I seazed it. I think it was a super deal for 150.00!

What are those "bedsides" doing lurking in the background of the first pic behind the front end for?

Re: One man's junk...

the comment was made that those with 67-70 frames may understand why you wanted this front end. i just bought a 68 frame w/ a 12 bolt, and power steering for 250. like you said, too good of a deal to pass up. i am in school and am not planning on starting my project until i am done in about a year. i was just wondering what the difference is with the 67-70 frames and if it is going to be a problem?

Re: One man's junk...

71 and 72 came with disc brakes. This piece is a complete 71' front end, I got this to put on a 67 or 68 frame.
