How tight is it? Do you use a heat shield or do you have any probs in summer?
It gets 100f+ in summer?

Re: BB+T400+Small Trans hump=probs???

Seems to be plenty of room around the tranny. Custom bent pipes so, no issue with any clearance problems. i have the floor insulated under the floor mat. No heat shields used.

Re: BB+T400+Small Trans hump=probs???

On my 70, I ran 454, turbo 400, low hump cab and the proper spacer under the trans. It rubbed the cab until I replaced the 35 year old original cab mounts with new ones. Then it cleared fine.

Re: BB+T400+Small Trans hump=probs???

I believe my transmission mount is original although I am running a BB. It measures 1 3/4" with a 3/8" thick spacer. Original eng was 327. Only change I made was motor mounts & towers.

Re: BB+T400+Small Trans hump=probs???

It may also make a difference on which mounts you are using for the big block. (if you are on the back set of holes where a 6 cyl would be) The factory 2 wd, v-8 trucks engine sat more forward. I am sure someone will clarify what i mean.
