Killer has found the fountain of youth

Look what arrived on my doorstep today while I was at work! Yea that's right it is a 2005 5.3L/4L60E engine tranny combo with a total of 10 whole miles. After many discussions with 68short step we have agreed to get this swap done and with a little persuasion and consulting by an intelligent man on this subject (shifty) I crossed my fingers, said my prayers and dished out the $$$ to "Get R Done"; so wish me luck guys.

Yes - keep the fly by wire electric throttle and get a Lokar pedal for it. Beats using the stock pedal.

Shifty is there way the stock pedal would mount and be functional with the fly by wire throttle?

ahh here we go, lots of knowledge is gonna be thrown out there in this thread, ia can see it now.....
shifty, does lokar make a pedal with a sensor (a reostat, of sorts) that'll control the TB? or is the reostat fixed to the pedal and independent from the pedal itself?
its my understanding the pedal assembly has a sensor that feeds to a module, then to the computer...is that correct hart_rod?

Re: Killer has found the fountain of youth

Well lookie who joined us; I was just concerned I'm gonna get stuck with a stock pedal out of a new vehicle (not attractive at all) but the lokar pedals do have that retro look.

You are NUTS going to cut up that truck. LOL!! Bigger NUTZ than me. Let me know how it goes. The great part is you can break down anywhere around the country and pull in to any GM dealer (4,000 of them) and get it repaired.

I'm using the TBW (throttle by wire). This is how I mounted my pedal:

Re: Killer has found the fountain of youth

It looks like that engine came out of or was intended for either a trailblazer or envoy. It has the pass through hole on the oil pan. That's what the axles run through on 4WD models.

I have an 04 trailblazer and am not very happy with the drive by wire feature. It takes the engine a bit of time to get going as much as you want it too. I would go with a regular throttle cable.

You guys doing these new age engine swaps are making a poor guy like me terribly jealous. Those engines look perfect in our trucks.

Time to start begging the wife for a loan.

Hmmm, maybe that will be the next reincarnation of my 68 some day. Once you have it installed and have everything running good, then you can do what I did to my 5.3L:

Looks great. I am running the same combo but have yet to receive my motor. I am also going to keep the fly by wire.
