Stupid question: Wiper removal?

So I'm trying to take off the cowl and I'm guessing i need to take off the wipers, not the blades, but the whole shaft part, im wondering how to do that?

Re: Stupid question: Wiper removal?

there is a small spring steel tab just below the splined knob on the wiper transmission, you need to use a straight blade screwdriver or small prybar to release the tab while pulling the wiper away from the windshield, and kinda wiggle the arm off of the knob....it will come off if you are patient.

Someone might have a better idea for a tool to use to take it off, but I have always used a screwdriver.

Re: Stupid question: Wiper removal?

i use needle nose plyers to take mine off, that way it comes off evenly but you might want to lay a rag under the players so it doesnt scratch the paint up so bad

Re: Stupid question: Wiper removal?

Sears or any good tool supply sells wiper pliers , they have coated end so
as not to scratch just wiggle under the wiper arm and they release the keeper
and the arms pop off
been a long time but they were'nt expensive
