They are only about $20 difference in price, but the ORD kit looks a little more stout to me. Anyone ever compare the 2? Pros or cons of either?

I'm looking to ditch the 4" blocks I have.

dirtyLarry just got the ORD kit a month or so ago. I can say this, the ORD stuff is very beefy. Nice welds and grade 8 hardware. I haven't seen the Sky kit in person, so I can't comment on it's quality other than what I've seen in pics on the web.

It's your call, but if I needed to replace the shackle flip I put on mine, I'd spend the extra dough for the ORD setup. It's worth it.

This is my first 67-72 4x4, so bare with the n00b question. But does the 73-87 stuff fit? If so, why not list it as 67-87?

I only see the flip kit for 73-87, that's why I ask.

If you used a 73-87 style you would also need to change your front hanger to a 73-87 style.

73-87 1/2 & 3/4 have a different offset in the bracket than 72 & older 1/2 & 3/4 due to the 73-87 spring pads are further apart on the axle. 73-87 1 tons have the same pad spread as 72 & older 1/2 & 3/4. So I'm thinking the 73-87 1 ton perches should work on the 72 & older. But I don't know if the bolt holes will line up, or if you would have to drill new ones. Anyone done this?

I'd just like to say 72 73 87 1/2 3/4 one more time

call Kert and talk to him. i'll bet he'll whip up a Flip n Switch for you, if one isnt already in the works, he's a vendor at CK5, and there are plenty of 67-72 guys there.

After looking at the ORD install on another site, I will go that route with the upgraded bushings and shackles too. $255 for everything isn't bad and my springs are in good shape.

Thanks for the help. I thought I learned a lot with my 2wd.

i personally have an ORD flip going on my SAS project, and its nice and all, but just not as beefy as the products i've seen (and purchased) from DIY.

the plate style shackles that the DIY kit uses are a big plus too. if they're too long, or too short, get a piece of 3/8" plate, cut to length, drill a couple of holes, and you've got a new set of shackles. no welding, or special tools required.

i baught all the up grade stuff from ord and i have to say it is far more beefer then the stock stuff i pulled off . the ord rear shackel flip kit i baught looks far more better then the sky stuff i looked at both kits before i got the ord kit . i got everything to rebuild the whole suspension in my 70 k/5 from them . so far i got all the front stuff on the truck . i am happy with everything i have got from ord and their service

I've been to Steves shop (ORD) here in Colorado, they are very together. They use what they sell and they use it hard. In there yard are a dozen hardcore wheelers and a pile of broken parts. They are the real deal and the bushing kits, shackle flip, crossmember, high steer/crossover and other parts I bought have all fit and performed like I had expected them to.

you guys sure are eating up the ORD stuff. try and get them to honor the prices on their website when they try to charge you more. there was a big thread on CK5 over some springs that they had tried to overcharge for, and i guess they got pretty crappy with the guy who wanted them to honor their advertised price. whats sad is that ORD is a CK5 supporting vendor.

having dealt with both, Kert's products are built stronger, and with more thought on performance. shipping time was considerably less too, which is surprising for such a small shop.

I have 3 or 4 ORD items on my truck now. I know there may be better stuff for less but I never had a price issue doing a web entry order or had any issues with their quality. Perhaps ORD is a bit over priced??? Yep….that they are.

When you do as much business with a bunch of rednecks like us as they do, things are bound to get screwed up once and a while and piss someone off in the meantime. There will never be a shortage of people on the internet willing to complain about…well, just about anything especially on CK5.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to your thread.

I would start out with the 4.5" shackle. If that doesn't make your truck sit the way you would like and as long as you don't paint the shackle it can be exchanged for a longer size. If you'd like to give Kert a call and discuss it with him, he's more than happy to talk to guys about their build.

agreed, with the high number of guys running 67-87 trucks, being what ORD specializes in, and the high concentration of them on CK5, i could see how that would happen. just never really thought of it that way.

OK OK I know...Holy bring back from the dead. I was searching for a rear flip kit and found this thread...but nobody really posted up about the Sky kit. Being in Oregon I contacted my local 4WD shop Rob's Offroad and talked to the guys there about flip kits. They do alot of Yota stuff so they do alot of business with Sky. I ordered them today and I will take some pics of install for you all to see! Here's a link to my cardomain page

Just remember that you're gonna have to buy or make an offset spring perch to pull the rear axle back to center of wheel well!!!!!

I opted to make my own, but you can buy some from whoever you get your shackles from.

After looking at my ORD shackles, I thought to myself "Jeeez, I coulda just made some of these."

They are great!!! Just not that big of a deal to make yourself....
