Re: 1:18 Diecast
I wish they were 1/24.I can`t get into the 1/18 scale.I may end up getting one, though.

Re: 1:18 Diecast
No,it`s just a new-fangled scale to me.Traditionally everything has been 1/24,1/43,or 1/64 scale. After collecting for all these years I like to display in "like" scales.Plus you can appreciate detail on a smaller piece.I`d like to be able to display these with all my other promos,Ertl die cast, model kits,Danbury Mint, etc.that I already have these trucks in.Plus, they just take up that much more room. Also, you have to limit your collecting somewhere. And,when they came out with 1/16,I decided not to bite. It`s just a scale that represents the late collectible craze of all these "made in China" products.I`m mostly a vintage collector. If you build diaramas, that`s another reason. They would get huge and you can`t cross-display scales(or I can`t).I don`t know why they started this scale. It seems to fall under "bigger is better"and in scale models,to me,it`s about miniature and 1/24 has been the limit for decades.
Hey,It`s just the way I think. Not knocking them.I held a "Dazed and Confused" 1/24 in my hand the other day.I thought I`d buy anything in these trucks. But,I put it down because it looks a touch under scale and I just didn`t like some of the detail, like side mouldings.I figured if I bought it,I`d modify it and shave the trim andput better wheels on it. I really do like the two-tone Hiway61s.

Re: 1:18 Diecast
I wasn't picking on ya, just trying to make a funny! You make good points, I have a small collection of 1:18 models, mainly because they sold them at my previous job, so I could get them pretty cheap. And I agree about appreciating the detail on a smaller scale more.

Re: 1:18 Diecast
No offense taken.I just tend to overexplain,I guess.Must be the detail-oriented in me.I just figure all will see my comments and I don`t want to come off as bashing 1/18 scale. So,I gave my thorough explaination to cover my take on "scales".Geez, how nerdy, getting into a discussion on scale.Who GAF?Never though my life would come to this pathetic state.
It`s all good
