alpine amp wiring
ok yall i wasent sure where to ask this but im not sure about this. i have a 4ch 400watt alpine amp. i bought it for $10 and the guy that had it did some soldering inside and one channel doesent work so i only use 2ch. what im wondering is could i bridge those 2 channels and run my subs in a series and get better performance or would i be better off just hooking them 1 to each channel? it hits damn hard now but i was just wondering.
thanks, John

Re: alpine amp wiring
Was it origionally a 2-3-4 channel or a 2-4 channel? If its a 2-4 & you try to series 2 channels together, you can just toss it in the dumpster now & save the hassle. It will fry it for sure. Just hook it up as a 2 channel & reverse the polarity on one of the subs. Same basic deal as bridged just not as powerful...

Re: alpine amp wiring
We need to know the impedence of them. The second thing we will need to know is the lowest impedence the amp will go. If it is a newer Alpine Amp, the Amp should be abler to handle a 2ohm load. If the subs are at a 4 ohm load, you can parallel the 2 subs and get the 2 ohm load. This will give you more power. If you run the subs in series, you will have a higher impedence and will have less power to the subs.
Good luck |

Re: alpine amp wiring
Lookup the model on alpines site, they should have the user manual listed, and it will give you all the important facts (ie. impedance, channels, settings, etc.).
