Front springs 6cyl. vs. 8 cyl. type

I have an 81 2WD that originally came with a straight 6 in it I was told, and still has the original front springs. I know at one point GM used different springs on 6 cyl. vehicles vs. the 8's. The 6's were "weaker" pound wise than the V8's. If I install a V8 with these "6 cyl." front springs; how much lower can I except it to sit compared to V8 with V8 front springs? What about ride quality? I wouldn't mind if the front sat alittle lower, as long as the ride isn't too bad.

from what i have always seen from and in actual GM info is that the standard equipment load rating capacity of the springs are the same on all trucks of a particular model and series, makes no mention of any heavier or different springs used with any certain available engine option.
I.E.: C10, K10, C20, K20, C30, K30, G10, G20, G30, P10, P20, P30, R10, R20, R30, K5, etc,etc

were the std and the HD and the aux springs that therefore added to, or had higher load rating capacity

They aren't different, they are the same. The inline isn't that much lighter just because it has less cylinders, this is just a misconception.
