Anyone installed intermittent wiper in our trucks?

We have had a lot of rain around here lately, and I was curious if anyone has found a intermittent wiper switch that will accept the stock control knob found in our trucks? It's just a partially flat side which attaches with a set screw. Is there room for such a switch behind the instrument panel? Anyone have a part # that will fit?

Re: Anyone installed intermittent wiper in our trucks?

Ahhh, I just found the other post about this. What is the intermittent wiper that Putter sells? Why are there relays involved?

Re: Anyone installed intermittent wiper in our trucks?

I just bought one from JC whitney and it installed quick and works great, adjustable. Less than $25.

I have the one by putter, works great, takes a little time to install.

71meangreenc10 What does the one from JCWhitney look like? Did you mount it in the stock wiper hole?

Re: Anyone installed intermittent wiper in our trucks?

I had an under dash unit that was very high quality on a truck once.Truck got stolen or I would have kept that. You could either use factory function of the intermitant.Does Putter`s install as original?I`d go for one of those.

Re: Anyone installed intermittent wiper in our trucks?

Anyone have info about the intermittent wiper switch? How much for Putter's kit? Carolina Classics is a little expensive, but I might have to do it, if I have no other option. JC whitney part #? Or Electronics123 kit?

Re: Anyone installed intermittent wiper in our trucks?

I believe the one by putter is what Carolina Classics is selling. With some time and 1-2 mods (wiper knob, and possible clearance trimming), this one will fit in the stock location and will accept the stock wiper knob.

I looked up the wiper switch from JCWhitney (since others are lacking in answering questions), and it appears to be a black box that you mount somewhere (will not fit in stock hole). Granted, it is only around $20.

So if you are not worried about appearing stock, the JC whitney one should do fine.

If you want stock looking, go with the one from Carolina Classics.....

I checked on jcWhitney and only come up with a switch. Do you have a part # for the black box? Thanks John!!

Re: Anyone installed intermittent wiper in our trucks?

hey, any of you guys here of this...its a little redneck but..

i put a push-buttom switch on the floor, just like the one for highbeams, and its right next to it.
wired that in so pushing that switch sends power to the wipers, only for a second, then the "park" feature takes care of the rest.
it's kinda intermitant, except you trigger it with your foot each time... works great, and its cheap.

I love rain X. lol

I just buy the Target version of the RainX washer solution, puts it on each time you use the washer.

Sorry for the delays guys, the PN is ML122370, I can add a pic if you like, it wires up easy and I bolted mine to the bottom of the dash.

Re: Anyone installed intermittent wiper in our trucks?

I am attempting to complete an install of a very nice intermittent switch setup made by putterconcepts.. I have a couple of threads going right now because I am having some issues because my original wiring was redone with all the same color and causing me trouble.. these threads are in the electrical section.. by stringpickin.. I am looking for an actual picture or diagram that shows the back of the stock switch and what wires go where.. The diagram available at http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...switch+diagram

does not make it clear for this dummy.. Any help appreciated..

The kit by Putter replaces the stock switch with a new one(requiring some minor metal removal to allow it to sit flat.. and has 3 relays ganged and wired together for location mounting. One power lead and a ground strap.. nice set up.. IF my orginal wiring would have been in tact..

Re: Anyone installed intermittent wiper in our trucks?

This sounds complicated. $52/shipped would have gotten you a delay that works without any relay wiring, and no sheetmetal mods as it uses your stock switch. See it here:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=593984

LMK if you want one, I have plenty to sell.

Re: Anyone installed intermittent wiper in our trucks?

I bought one from twouvakind and it takes a little bit of time to wrestle with the limited space behind the dash but I love it. The whole installation was pretty much unplug and plug his into the existing wiring.

I can retrofit your first generation delay with a relocatable potentiometer to mount anywhere, just uninstall and ship it back to me.....no charge!
