help with cab bushings

Hey, does anyone have any tips on how to change out the cab bushings? I've got my bed off and I can see the two back cab bushings have seen better days and am wondering how I might try to change them out. thanks Bob

Re: help with cab bushings

Once again Jeff, you have bailed me out again. I again appreciate it and hope you don't get tired of telling my newbie butt how to get things done. Boy I don't know who that Mike Wheelock is, but that was one nice write up. I think I'll order the parts and get started on the bushings asap. Bob

Re: help with cab bushings

No problem Bob.

Mike is a visitor of 73-87.com. He E-mailed me out of the blue and asked if I wanted an article on the cab bushing install...as he just did his and had lots of pictures. I said "yes", and a couple days later he sent me his information. Super nice guy, I am sure he appreciates the fact that it helps others out.

Re: help with cab bushings

id say unbolt the bolts. then use a 2x4 across the floor of the truck and lift with a jack to lift the rear of the cab. repeat for front if they are bad to but at the corners.

Re: help with cab bushings

I finally got my cab bolts our mount cups out today, that was a task. PB Blaster is my new friend I will be putting the new prothane setup in tomorrow. Hopefully it rides better than the metal to metal setup it was

Re: help with cab bushings

I got my prothane setup put on today, what a difference in the truck. It actually rides a ton better. I pulled the radiator support bushings and the cups were rotten. So I put the better rubber bushings that came off of the truck back up front, and am waiting on finding a set of better cups. POR-15 looks damn good after it sets up and dries.

Re: help with cab bushings

I picked it up from a local shop on the buddy discount. Most napa or o'reilly's have it.
