What is my truck worth if i were to price it??
Alright guys,i need sum honesty here now ! After twenty one years its been crossing my mind here latley about selling my 71 Chevy 4x4. No reason for me having to sell it,just don't have enough time to go to many shows and well,it just sits now and looks pretty. *L* Thought about putting it on E-Bay to see how the market was there ?!?! For all of you that don't know my truck, its the one with the marker lite filler, poly rear tank,502 fuel injected big block engine, frame off restoreration,35x12.50x15 BFG's KO's,one of a kind PBS wheels, mini disc player, late model serpatine belt setup on the engine, electric twin fans, late model A/C,coated headers,Holley multi-port injection, cowel hood, slick paint job. What do ya'll think friends and neighbors ? Is there sumone here that might want to buy a show vehicle??? Serious inquiries may call me,but please don't e-mail with asking what i would take for it ,please. i will tell ya,its gonna take a pretty good penny to buy her.

Tennman,
Have you thought about having an apraiser look at it?? Other than that I would add up the upgrades and such, then follow Ebay prices to trucks that some what compare. I know that is VERY subjective. By the way, It is a damn nice truck!! |

I looked around for some prices on your truck . . . I assumed it's a 1/2 ton 4x4, & it looks like a short bed. The Nada guide let's you put in the 4x4 & factory air options only - your options & upgrades are going to be a major factor in the pricing, so keep that in mind when you set your opening price. Ebay is a pretty good market - there are a couple of trucks on there now that have incredibly high bids - a '72 C-10 is currently at $36,100 with 25 bids!! Just remember that you'll have to share part of the money with Ebay
Here's some page links to trucks in your league on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1856224994 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1858009169 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1857136949 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1856361527 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1857693096 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1857308387 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1857248617 Here's the NADA page & link: NADA Classic and Exotic Cars Consumer Pricing 1926 to 2002 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHEVROLET 1971 C10 PICKUP 1/2 TON Model: FLEETSIDE SHORTBED Weight: 3,618 Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price: $2,930 Low Retail: $3,550 Average Retail: $5,650 High Retail: $18,400 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Optional Equipment Add-4 Wheel Drive: Low: $250 Avg.: $450 High: $625 Add-Factory Air Conditioning: 5 % -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Totals Total Low Retail: $3,978 Total Average Retail: $6,383 Total High Retail: $19,945 http://www2.nadaguides.com/Values/Va...Model=00000434

Hmmm!
Sat here and looked at that thing for about 15 minutes. I have a good idea about what it is worth. Saw a 71 for sale in a publication a few months ago. Guy was asking some really big bucks. Wonder what he got. Have had guys make offers for mine that are crazy, but I'd never sell it. Good luck Tennman.

How's that and I've never seen it,just going by what you say it is and what I see in the pic. My Burb is also for sell and I have a price inmind but not sure which way to go about selling because it seems nothing is selling right now.

Good guess!
Not everyone will pay that but someone will. Compare Danny's truck to a new one. I would take danny's in a hearbeat. What does a new one cost? Rock on Danny!

I was thinking 20k-25k, I'm sure you got more than that in it though. But its like you said you've owned the truck a long time and built it for your needs and wants so its hard to put a price on it. I've had a few friends sell nice stuff then 6 months or a year later you see the car or truck and its gone to crap. I would hate to see that happen to yours. Hell just keep it no reason to sell it just costing you insurance and tag keep it, its a piece of history.

I'd say in the 20K-25K range as well.
Looking at the options you've added, plus the quality it's in!

truck value
Danny;
I'm sure you and everyone knows or it is my opinion that buying market drops off significantly with price (I think a lot at $7k and up). Your truck might probably sell in the $20-$25 range as they state. At $15K it should go fairly quick. As Wlee states ebay is a place to watch, but yes many reserves are not met. I also observe on many of these Wlee lists and others I see that many bids are placed by 0 or low feedback bidders whats that all about?? Also if someone knows the resrve is high they can bid and be safe. Why do people bid against themselves? I'm not sure there is anyone at all willing to shell out large dollars without seeing and touching truck (maybe we can hire local to give appraisal). I would assume that potential buyer could fly to many areas fairly reasonably to look at truck before buying. I might offer a price break if someone wanted to flyin to look at it as you would know that buyer was serious and could look it over for surprises, sight unseen lends itself to claims of dissatisfaction later. Also for the big dollars vehilces they would need to be very close to the vehilce someone would build themselves if they were going to build one. Good luck and its a beauty, would be tough to part with.

Danny, first let me say that is one sweet 4x4 you've got there! I agree totally with the $20-25 k price. In fact, i feel that $20 k would be a little low. If you really want to sell, i'd list it nationally and list it high ($$). Remember that your truck is actually worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it !! If it were to appraise at say $ 19 k , doesn't mean that someone out there isnt willing to give $ 25 k for it . Good Luck!

I hear this alot...
"It's worth what sombody is willing to pay for it" Check out the Dupont Registry in a book/mag store published out of Fla, It's like the Auto Trader for the rich and famous. I'd buy your bike, it looks as good as one of Jesse James Choppers at 1/3 the cost Can't seem to come up with that 1/3 tho...

I would put it out there for 30k. See if you get any bits. My motto is start high, you can always go down, but not up. I would say someone has the money out there for it, the trick is to find them.
Love the bike too. I think these guys are on the right track(or wrong, not sure which) Quote:

OK, you don't want to hear this but I will tell you anyway. My bet is that a bank will loan little to nothing for someone to buy that truck. There are not a lot of people that have 20-25k in their hip pocket, and the ones that do usally don't give a rats a$$ about 67-72 Chevy trucks. The trucks that I have seen that go for big bucks are high option, perfect restro's with all that number matching crap and no mods. So as a general rule you will lose money selling it. That is one sweet truck and if you sell it I hope you find someone willing to give you what you want for it.

Well it is a pretty nice looking truck.
The thing to do might get someone to appraise it for you. If you cannot find someone to appraise it for you then you might try determining the value on something like that by takeing a percentage of what you put into the truck. The thing to remember is to make sure all your own personal labor is added into the final figure of what you put into the truck. Your best bet though might be to find a high end car lot or dealer that deals in selling cars and trucks that are restored in the conditon you have yours. They would know what you could get for it and might even have someone looking for one.
